Got to give credit to the lads for showing great Character and coming back to win a game when it looked lost against a Good Sheffield side we would have lost this game last season but the lads showed they can grind out a result when the chips are down on a pitch that did not suit us lets hope they is now no diruption to training and games been called off and we can really start to develop as a team I personally would play a full strength team against Ovenden next Sunday just to give the lads more game time.

think a few of those that did not play yesterday will be playing against ovenden as the coach needs to see all play as much as can.

I'm supprised no one's mentioned Stanley Gene, thought he was very good again yesterday, got through a load of work and when we were up against it, his strong running along with worrincy got us out of trouble. He also produced some good cover defence to stop some of Sheffields breaks, and I believe he lasted the full 80 again.

no but as you said he played well against fev but that is the last time i can remember him playing well.so that is why it is just about every game for a while

he seems to want to conserve his enegy so he can play the full 80 minutes whereas bannister roberts can but play harder for longer.



as i said before he has the great rugby nouse but should step aside now for the young lads with more energy

Let's see how the season unfolds. Yesterday may have been a blip but he does get through a hell of a lot of work normally. You need the "un-noticed" players. Players who do the hard graft in defence which often does go unappreciated.

Gene made one of the best tackles I have ever seen yesterday, chased that Ropati for a good 60 yards and stopped a certain try. Who cares about his age, as long as he can make plays like that.

He also set Shads 2nd try.





When Stan the man was hitting Stringers arm, was that an offence? I thought Stringer holding onto Gene would have been the offence.

Yes, it is.



But, Stan could have been sent off for kicking out at the player when he was trying to get up. He was lucky to only give away a penalty.
