| Chapylad and dhm, I totally agree with your sentiments, I'm simply questioning the rationale and consistency of bans.
Had Worthington got up would jjb have even been sin binned? I honestly believe not. That's not to say the tackle wasn't reckless just that as a game we tend to be more keen to punish when an injury occurs.
To me this is totally unacceptable. We should punish hard reckless and obviously those with intent regardless of injury as its about protecting players. Yet consistently this never happens.
As for that prat flower. Don't get me started. I'd have given him a much longer ban for what he did on hohiah. As for the warrington red card, it just shows his mentality and that of Wane.

No. Didn't the kid play on for a while after the tackle? If there was any initial damage then playing on with it can't have helped. JJB should rightly serve a ban but the damage could have been exacerbated by the lad saying he was OK to continue or their medical team not realising the extent of the injury. Can't hold JJB responsible for that IMO.

| not been to red hall on a disciplinary since 2009 and his lost his egp for the injury and gave him full 2 match ban for clumsy, lazy but by no means intentional can remember jp and o'locklin get reduced sentence for outstanding disciplinary record yet again the rfl are consistently inconsistent

Fallon and Ryano again I`m not disputing what you are saying either.
I think we all or pretty much all of us feel the same way.
There`s no consistency whatsoever.
With regards to Flower I thought he deliberately went in with the elbow and knew what he was doing and he only got two games for being a model professional!!
Charnley gets 2 games, Bailey 3 games and JP nothing for the same offence.
Surely the RFL can work even the easy ones out.

You would hope so wouldn't you. The RFL just consistently show how inconsistent they are. Oh the irony.

| The 'fixed tarrif' bans don't, unfortunately, take into account, individual actions. I believe that most misdemeanours aren't intentional, and players (like JJB appeared to) get caught up in situations. For instance, were there two other Rhinos' players in the tackle on Worthington? Also, take the case of a player who completes say, 40 tackles in a game. He is twice as likely, as the guy who makes 20 tackles, to make a clumsy, careless tackle. Somehow, each individual case needs to be looked at in isolation.

| You see year after year, when finals are coming up a player facing suspension often gets away with an offence (Peacock) or is only banned up until the game before (Flower).
If either of those incidents happened in Round 6 or 11 or 15 does anybody think the outcomes/bans would be the same length? I could see it changed to Peacock getting 1/2 games and Flower getting 3.

Totally agree. Just another example of players overall welfare being secondary.

A very humble apology from JJB.
www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/s ... -1-8153734
Total respect for the guy acknowledging his error. To put it all in context, one mistake in about 800 tackles, is surely understandable? He's gone up in my estimation.

| Not many players would apologise like JJB did, WE know he's not a 'dirty player', we've seen him play enough times on the TV. Fair play to him....

| Why not introduce a driving licence style points system, still ban for individual incidents and add points to the license. Once the points accumulate then additional bans imposed. Wipe clean at the start of the next season unless over x points then a percentage carried forward.
This would rewatrd the isolated instances and punish the persistent offenders
