| Quote Towns88="Towns88"Surely that logic was perfectly understandable . We'd lost 3 times to hull and beat you numerous times (fairly comfortably). Me personally I was very split and very nervous watching your semi as I know certain runs always come to an end. A lot of fans thought our best chance was playing you in the final, that isn't corky it just is what it is. We could have played widnes in the grand final and the slop we served up thst day would have seen us beaten by them too.'"
Castleford simply didn't peak towards the end of the season, as Champions must do. Hull, Saints and ourselves did. If Hull or Saints had played you at Old Trafford, I think they'd be Champions now.
As it is, it's us. Again.

Most countries in the world, the people there wouldn’t know what you are talking about with New England Patriots, and LA Lakers. Football clubs yes, as most countries have interest in it.
I am in South Africa a lot, and whenever I mention Rugby League and UK, many have turned around and said Leeds Rhinos. Kind of puts that little argument of yours on a different basis. Go above York here, as you said, and anyone heard of rugby league you will find Leeds will be the first side they mention.

Hull ? Give over. They put their eggs in the challenge cup basket and they hatched nicely, they were hardly peaking at think the end of the season. Arguably winning the league by such a distance didn't benefit us as before the ply off semi, when was the last tough game we had ?
Not every side win the GF at their first attempt. There's lots to be learnt and I think we are nicely on track. I think if we can pouch Evalds we are genuine contenders. That's not being cocky, as it stands, I think we are desperately short in an important position.
We've come a long way under Powell so I can fully understand fans getting giddy, especially having seen so much dross over the years. Not too great when you're watching everyone in the league put 40+ ion you.

Yeah the new york yankees are bigger aswel, but theyre as equally irrelevant here as all the teams you mention.
We'r on a rugby league forum and in rugby league leeds are one of the biggest...to be honest pal, that response is pretty weak, i cant believe you actually posted it, in a round about way your agreeing with me, having to resort to using nfl,nba and footy teams to belittle leeds suggests that you also think leeds are one of the biggest clubs in rugby league.
If Adrian vowles ultimate aim was to play in the super bowl, then you may have a point, but im pretty sure his sporting ambition will of ed around rugby.

Probably the week before the semi final when you got Hammered at home by Hull FC which was probably just the sort of game that you needed before the play off's begin to get you battle hardened and also against a tough physical side is it not,or had the Tigers already shot their bolt by then and had ultimately reached their peak but were sadly gone?
especially against a side that were supposedly hardly peaking
Quote Towns88="Towns88"Hull ? Give over. They put their eggs in the challenge cup basket and they hatched nicely, they were hardly peaking at think the end of the season'"
Hull FC were also a side that would push the Rhinos close in the semi's only a week later, so If that result didn't give the Tigers the kick up the backside that you needed then I don't know what would have?
TBH your run in from round 27 looked to be going according to plan would you not agree?
Whereas our run in had 2 blow out scorelines prior to our semi final v Hull FC,so judging by your theory our last tough game before the GF play offs was 2 weeks prior to when your last tough game was, so I'm not sure what your getting at?
If any side was going into the play offs "under done" then surely that would have been the Rhinos would it not rather than the Tigers?
So IMO your theory is a great misconception that has ultimately turned into an excuse.
Round 30 games
Tigers 16 Hull FC 48
Giants 12 Rhinos 36
Round 29 Games
Wigan 20 Tigers 38
Rhinos 44 Salford 2
Round 28 Games
Tigers 38 Rhinos 24
Round 27 Games
Giants 16 Tigers 24
Rhinos 38 Hull FC 26

Didn't we knock Saints out? Peaked at seasons end but still got beat by little old Cas. Whereas Leeds just trounced us. Outcoached and outplayed in the biggest game.
I do however blame a little bit on losing Hardaker who was our best player last year. If you played without McGuire I'm pretty confident we would have beat you.

I recall saying on the VT around Round 19/20 when it was obvious you were going to win the LLS with several games to spare that it would do you a disservice but Cas fans were adamant that getting to rest players in the build up to the playoffs would give them the advantage. Similarly some were claiming to be fine with being knocked out of the Cup for the same reasons even though it was argued that the Cas team could well do with at least a Cup SF/F for big game experience but that was dismissed with "how different can playoff games be".
What almost cost Cas vs Saints (if it wasn't for Percival's GK) and did cost them vs Leeds is thinking they could/trying to play like they were normal league games.
