| I think the tackle was poor technique rather than a deliberate shoulder to head charge. My main complaint was silverwood allowing saints to persistently infringe at the play the ball. Thus preventing a quick play the ball.

| The first 20 mins of saints messing about at the play the ball was the worst , two other key moments were when the saints player clearly passed the ball when tackle completed and the worst one when Leeds on top and Briscoe giving penalty away

I agree it's technically a penalty when they throw the pass after grounding it like that, but when a player is having his ass hauled out over the sideline, when have you ever seen them use that rule?

This was the issue that frustrated me too. It really is a bluddy lottery sometimes as to how an official is going to 'police' the rules.

| I thought the red card was a travesty. Moon's feet were planted as he was third man in the tackle where the Saints player was driving out from the Saints line. The Saints player's head made contact with his shoulder, but Moon didn't set out to hit him with his shoulder.

| Silverwood was awful.
Holding down and offsides gone unpunished.
Numerous dodgy calls on knock-ons/ball steals that go against refs guidelines.
No yellow for the off the ball hit.
And then the red card.
He was giving play on. And then somebody must have had a word in his ear. He didn't see that hit and nor did his touch judges. Otherwise they'd have been on the pitch giving him a direct report.
So he's sent a player off based on a report from the video ref.
If this is the case, why isn't every incident looked at by the video ref in TV games? There would never be a need for an on-report in a TV game.
We, as a sport, have to get some consistency in refereeing decisions/interpretations and in how referees utilise the resources available to them.
If he can check with the video ref for that incident, he can check other controversial calls.

Exactly.
As I stated elsewhere the officiating is a bluddy lottery depending it seems on a whim of an individual on any given day

| A poor performance all round from MR Silverwood not helped by Saint Steve Ganson as the video ref and two inept linesmen who see jack . The sending off was the game breaker and we did brilliant to hold on for so long, the final decision kinda typified his whole game when with 40 plus seconds left he gives Saints head and feed when Aiton gets the ball smashed at him with his back turned. The constant lying on and the latitude he gave Saints with the offside rule was ridiculous, if I didn't know any better I would think he had money on an away win

| Silverwood awarded 13 penalties in the 1st half and about 2 in the second - did someone have a word at half-time?
Probably did for Leeds' chances to add any further points as kicking penalty goals is about all that is on offer when McGuire's under-rated passing game and Burrow's individual darts are missing from the team sheet.
For once Briscoe appeared the most enthusiastic of the Leeds back three with Hardaker particularly lethargic.
As for the sending off - why shouldn't the video referee/s make a contribution to the decision. Percival appeared concussed and took no further part in the game so something had happened whether Silverwood or the touch judges had seen the incident clearly or not. I imagine Silverwood asked for the assistance.
What is McDermott quoted as saying: "I only saw it a couple of times in the throes of the game so I'm not 100 percent sure but =#FF0000it didn't look like he made contact with the head and, if he hasn't, then it's a big call, a wrong call in my opinion."
Presumably he'll see it as a correct call once he's had time to review it then.

| Did anyone else think the second try was dubious because the tackled player moved off his mark? He took a step to his left, and because the markers stayed where they were, it meant Roby could jump out of dummy half and attack the line.
Anyway, shocking performance by Silverwood. He ruined, and let Saints ruin, what should have been a good game. Compare it to Bentham last week. Seems like Silverwood always want to be the main man out there. I'm disappointed for the 15 players and 2 unused subs

because they arent allowed/never have before nor will they again. just typical RFL lottery with the refs. i would love to see the VR assist the ref, be fantastic, however in ANY other game thats a leeds scrum. instead its a saints pen and leeds down a man using ruls never used before or again =/
