| Quote southern_rhino="southern_rhino"because they arent allowed/never have before nor will they again. just typical RFL lottery with the refs. i would love to see the VR assist the ref, be fantastic, however in ANY other game thats a leeds scrum. instead its a saints pen and leeds down a man using ruls never used before or again =/'"
Seem to remember there was an incident last year when the VR was used in the similar circumstance and a red card shown and also a game this year when a player was left on the deck clearly hurt by something. In that case it was a genuine accident and no blame attached to an opposition player.
But I agree about would like to see it more. It seems they only do it if the player stays on the ground injured, had Aiton said down then perhaps he'd look at the Soliola incident again (or maybe not). This was the same ref from the 2012 GF who didn't ask the VR's opinion when Sinfield was sparked out by Monaghan head when hit after the kick.

So, you're quite happy with the rules being applied literally for the shoulder charge (and I don't disagree with you on that) but suddenly for another incident, there should be some form of mitigation? Priceless.

| Quote tvoc="tvoc"Silverwood awarded 13 penalties in the 1st half and about 2 in the second - did someone have a word at half-time?
Probably did for Leeds' chances to add any further points as kicking penalty goals is about all that is on offer when McGuire's under-rated passing game and Burrow's individual darts are missing from the team sheet.
For once Briscoe appeared the most enthusiastic of the Leeds back three with Hardaker particularly lethargic.
As for the sending off - why shouldn't the video referee/s make a contribution to the decision. Percival appeared concussed and took no further part in the game so something had happened whether Silverwood or the touch judges had seen the incident clearly or not. I imagine Silverwood asked for the assistance.
What is McDermott quoted as saying: "I only saw it a couple of times in the throes of the game so I'm not 100 percent sure but =#FF0000it didn't look like he made contact with the head and, if he hasn't, then it's a big call, a wrong call in my opinion."
Presumably he'll see it as a correct call once he's had time to review it then.'"
Why the veiled criticism? According to those in the know, losing a third rate Aussie play maker is enough of a reason to bemoan your lack of attacking edge these days, let alone two of the best half backs to come out of these shores in a generation. I'd like to see any other side in the league step out with a nineteen year old stand off and play so well.
What is the relevance of McDermott's comments when he was in Wenger land? If he didn't see it, he can only speculate, which he did and qualified his statement as such. I'm not his biggest fan but you seem to have an obsession.
As for Hardaker, if you think that was lethargic, I can only speculate that you mainline speed. I think what you are confused by the role he was playing and the role he normally plays.

| I have no problem with the Red Card or how they got to that decision what I do question is consistency replays showed a number of bad calls yet nowt from the VR booth?
I don't buy the "foul play or where injury has occurred" excuse either a p!$$ poor call is the same irrespective of incident.
Also how was Soliola not sin binned?
We saw in the GF Westwood smash Greens cheek in =On Report! Same Ref as well so why not Red?
The Officials are not regulated or brought to task for poor performances its very much a "we watch our own backs" set up which is ridiculous if we want to strive for improvement sport wide!

| I've not watched the game back yet but does anyone else think that Baileys effort at the try line was worth a second look?
At the match it looked as if Bails may have just got the ball on the line.

Nor should it be, IMO. If the tackle is complete, the tacklers should stop dragging him. If he can be dragged, he can get rid of the ball for me.
There was no malice in the Moon challenge, but the rules are clear and they say red card.
I couldn't decide whether Soliola was committed. Probably could have pulled out, but tough one for the ref.
