| Quote Gotcha="Gotcha"Not sure how a youngster and fringe player were playing for a spot next week. Robbie Ward as an example, could have come on, got five tries, five assists, won MOM, and still he would be overlooked for next week.I think players know where they stand. Equally the experienced players knew they could play as bad as they want, but would still be picked for a semi.
Agree with rest of post though.'"
I would tend to agree, but if that really is true, and the youngsters aren't coming in busting a gut to cement a place in the team, we've got real issues and none of them will ever reach their potential at Leeds.

| All the recent qoutes coming from inside Headingley that they wanted to finish in top position , what a load of balls , they are taking supporters for mugs , gone have the days where we tried to win every match under Tony Smith , god only knows what Matty , Dunners , Furner , Poaching and the rest would think .
Just on that point anyone thinking we are a good team when at full strength , just remember Matty and Dunners did not make the 17 for the Grand Final , thats how far we have fallen they were special players .
Luckily and Hetherington (we have our best squad ever) will never admit it the Super league is not a patch on what it was in those days as the Leeds , Bulls or Saints teams of that era would walk the comp now

| What a great night, there was a retirment do at work. They laid on posh nibbles, wine and a variety of real ales. It was a bit emotional at times as there were four people who had recently retired but good fun all the same.
Then we ended up in the Skyrack, drinking shots and singing really bad kareoke, great night.
The only slight marr on the whole evening was a very unfotunate 80 minutes when we thought it would be a good idea to watch a game of rugby. We initially thought there was going to be a game on but instead there was just these 26 blokes constantly dropping a rugby ball.
…but at least I got to sing Meat Loaf really badly.

| I make no apologies for repeating my comments about it being an intriguing and fascinating end of season battle.
At the moment I really don't know what to make of the current squad, early on in the season I thought we were superb. Since then we have wobbled on more than one occasion.
What I do know having just watched my recording of last nights wire match is ,they were highly committed against Catalan with a big set of forwards, spurred on by a good effort by Monaghan .
Also watching Wigan on Thursday night whilst beating a poor salford side the Wigan defence was rock solid.
So we have some serious challenges ahead, lets hope it's cometh the hour cometh the man.

| Quote Superted="Superted"The players attitude to this game stank from minute 1 last night.
Walking to scrums, 20 meter restarts, kick offs, penalties etc is a clear indication when a team has that 'not bothered' attitude, and it was there right from the start of the game last night.
You can half expect that sort of attitude from the regular 1st team players with a semi final next week, but it's very disappointing to see it from the youngsters and fringe players who should be playing for a spot next week.
Another typical 'regular season' performance from Leeds where the opposition simply wanted the win more. It's understandable with the current league format where the 2 points from last night don't really matter, but charging over £20 per adult for that effort is a scandal. What would the club do if the fans started having the same attitude towards these games as the players?'"
Those youngsters need leaders around them they were "shell shocked" and looking for more guidance rather than "not caring or being lazy".
The Senior players didn't turn up its that simple ,when we beat Cas a few years back with a scratch squad after the international game players like Webb etc lead the youngsters throughout last night no-one did apart from Hardaker.
I'd also question the Coaches attitude towards this fixture with his selections after a clear warning last week when an even stronger Wigan were beaten by the relegation fodder!

You're absolutely right, however, that game was there for the taking still, the fact none of the youngsters stepped up and took the game by the scruff of the neck is disappointing. A young Burrow or McGuire would have stamped their authority on the game with a bit of magic when they first broke into the team - I don't really see any magic amongst the youngsters on show last night, they're all much of a muchness.
I do really rate the young lad Walters though - yeah he makes some mistakes, but he's a workhorse in the making, with a little extra too, unfortunately he's probably not really a game breaker, but in the 2nd row, he doesn't need to be.

| ST- There were many games in the early days when Mags and co looked shell shocked when we got some pastings mate and apart from a short stint from R.Ward at 9 none the young lads last night were in a pivotal position tot really "take the game by the scruff of the neck" imo.

| If they lose next week they've right royally f*cked it.
If they'd gone all out they'd be going into the semi top of the league with a good win behind them.

| Poor attitude. No leadership from the captain.
I was so disappointed that we overall played with a death wish and were thinking about next week rather than handling a greasy ball once in a while.
I have purchased a ticket for the semi, but can't now raise the enthusiasm to make the effort to attend, given that Monaghan will likely destroy us at the back of a dominant pack
Bet JP wishes he could rejoin the Bulls next year and lead the fight to get back to Super League. Maybe at our expense on tonight's showing.
No incentive for the likes of Watkins and Hardaker to stick around when they could be even better players in a better structure and coaching setup.

That's fair enough, but I'd say none of them are commanding a spot in the team either - let alone in pivotal positions, something which the likes of McGuire, Burrow, Chev, Mathers etc did.
It was real easy to get excited about those youngsters, as each of them had the special ability to make something out of nothing - that individual brilliance that could turn a game and meant they really stood out, even as teenagers making their first few appearances in the 1st team. I just don't see that from our current youngsters - that doesn't mean I'm writing them off, I just don't see any 'stand outs' - there's nobody with blistering pace, or a wicked side step, or great vision that sets them apart. They all appear to be from the same manufactured mould of players nowadays - steady and safe with no individuality or creativity.

| Not sure what to think after last night. I'm not a fan of resting players at all. Injuries & suspension will usually leave you devoid of one or two players so why compound that? All this mollycoddling of key players seems to be having no positive affect on the team, if anything detrimental. Most props (with the exception of JP) rarely do more than 40 mins per game anyway.
It's been a long time since I've been this miffed after a Leeds game.
