It'll be intesresting to see how Wigan react. I suspect they'll do nothing much this season as it'd be too late to look to make any changes. It really does make a nonsense of the suggestion that somehow they will 'look after' Hardaker in some way better than anyone else can. People like him just generally never learn, and he most likely regards any discussions and undertakings about his behaviour as a huge source of amusement when he's drunk. Sadly sports of all kinds indulge 'stars' that way, so he'll most likely end up never having really learned his lesson.

Everything about this is just such a shame.



A talented guy who could have been anything he wanted in RL including rich, relative to Joe bloggs but not like footballer standard. Idolised. Name in the history books. Things fans would give anything for.



And being a sports star I fully expect he will have had all sorts of help made available to him to 'help him cope' with whatever it is people think he needs help to cope with whereas Joe bloggs who is struggling with mental health has to wade through the quagmire of public service help and won't have access to the expensive end of what can be available.



Of course none of that matters when you are ed up driving a car with no insurance or mot having being up for assault and God knows what else before.



I have so much sympathy for those that need help but none for those that continuously throw it back at people and don't take responsibility.

James Child incident - not my fault that word means something else.

Student incident - not my fault, few beers and the lad started on him.

Cas incident- I was drunk - didn’t know what I was doing

Drink driving - I was “protecting” my golf clubs.



Until he actually admits to himself he has a problem, nothing will change. Sure he’ll say he learned lessons, made mistakes, grown up etc in public, but he doesn’t actually mean it. There’s always been someone to wipe up his mess for him, smarten him up and have someone with a nice fat contract outside the door saying “we can change him” when in reality the only person on this earth who CAN make that call won’t, mainly because he doesn’t have to OR want to.



I really fear for this lad, I honestly do.

I think it’d be in the best interest of the game for him not to be involved in it anymore.
