Yes he didnt have a great record previously at club level, but that was a long time ago. Since then he has worked under and alongside some of the best and most successful RL coaches around who use only the very best and most modern techniques, so i'm more than happy to give him at least a chance to show us what he can do.

An assistant coach is always very close to the players and has to be a bit of a 'mate' to them too. Head coaches are there to give them a bollocking when they are rubbish. Just because our players apparently 'love' Purtill and don't like Potter doesn't mean he is a better coach.

More likely he's soft on them then.

The best qualified man for the job is always the best option regardless of player opinions and I'm sure out of all the candidates that applied, McManus and the board have selected the right choice.

I have to go with that. This board has an excellent track record with what it has done with the club and they deserve our support as much as our next first grade coach does. Whoever gets the job will get my full support whether I agree with the choice or not. Come on [iThe S[/i!

Me too, Big Mal would be the ideal. Either way I'm sure Royce Simmons or Keiron Purtill will do a good job at Saints.

I would prefer Ricky Stuart,if not him Royce Simmons,he has worked with some great players in his recent coaching history.

I believe this to be our new coach during his playing days as a tourist to Great Britain.



We may as well get Longy back as a player mentor. Should be a more interesting season at the very least.
