Some of the names selected, shows that he is experimenting a little, but I would have thought our Cockney Saint was worth a shout as he has been a revelation in our pack since we've lost Graham. I thought he wouldn't have been able to make the step up but he has proved me wrong and probably many others (if they're honest).
But glad we have a squad able to rest and have a good pre season ready for 2013

I agree with this - going into next year with a fully refreshed squad is a real positive.
I feel for LMS, as it's a travesty that Mossop gets a spot before him, but from a Saints perspective it's all good. |

The depressing reality is although the England squad looks pathetic it's hard to argue against, we only have Roby. When you go through our English players they really are not good enough. Makinson for me is the only one who could push for a place.
Wellens - past it even at Super League level
Shenton - been poor this season
Jones - progressing well but never an international yet
Wheeler - always injured
Lomax - isn't good enough at 7 for international yet
LMS - too inconsistant
Clough - average
Flanagan - good tackler but never international
Wilkin - couldn't we have used him as as a transfer fee for Taylor from Hull KR?
Dixon - average
Gaskell - average

Lomax had a good start to the season, average middle of the season and a very poor end of season and IMO hasn't been good enough to be selected.
Josh jones is nowhere near ready and shouldn't be selected.
I think LMS was unlucky not to get a call, he's had a very good season. |

Is this a sign of the times? Warrington and Leeds have 12 between them I think. It's a bit of a damning indictment of our much heralded (By Eamon and the blind optimistics on here) squad isn't it that not one of them is good enough to play for England?

Morley's inclusion is a joke, Hill deserves his spot The rest are pretty hard to argue with I guess. I suppose this squad also gives Rogues chance to say McIllorum was chosen ahead of Roby

I think Mac is taking them high altitude training next month, do you think someone has forgotten to tell him the altitude effect only last a few weeks and not until the world cup next year. |

Good news overall. It's a nothing tournament and if it had any meaning I'm sure some of our players would have been selected. Of more benefit to Saints is the fact that they will get a good rest and the new coach will have a full pre-season with all his players available.
