you see thats simply not true. I know for a fact that good old Bob Connolly made no secret of the fact that if there was a 50/50 in a Saints match he would always go with the opposition, being a pie eater it's understandable.



Anderson complained about Smith and with good reason he is shoocking everytime he refs us so it's either a horrible coincidence or he has it in for us.

Smith is shocking no matter who he refs. That's a given.

I,ve seen enough of Ian Smith over the years to know that that he referees us to negate our style of play. We,ve had 3 experienced (Millward, Anderson, Potter) coaches who have took the issues to the RFL, the guy is anti rugby and makes things up as he goes along.

Perhaps sub consciously he dislikes the team and as a result referees the game in a manner that is just not good enough for professional rugby league.

He is just an absolutely shocking ref. Tonight had several ridiculous moments of misinterpretation that bordered on the ridiculous. Why, for example, was he constantly giving knock ons in situations where players dropped or knocked the ball onto on of their own players? Surely it's a penalty instead? Forward passes, high shots, he missed them all yet must have pulled 20 other penalties out of nowhere.

Surely it would be accidental off-side and a scrum?

If it was any other ref I'd agree. But not him. He really does seem to dislike us and it's no coincidence that the closer games that he refs for us go the other way and seem to do on the back of the opposing team being moved up the field by mind boggling penalties.

Whichever I'm no ref, but it's not a knock on either way.

But as thet both end up in a scrum with the same feed does it really matter. Certainly isn't a penalty like you thought, no wonder you moan about the ref.

My theory on Smith is that he dosn,t like fast open rugby, he can't referee this style of play. He trys to slow the game down and allows holding down, offside so he can keep things to his tempo, also he is a lazy ref he won,t officiate around the tackle, quite often he is too far away and assumes knock ons and loose balls as the defending side reefing the ball out.

Another thing he can,t control is head high tackles, he will give penalties but no severe warnings, Salfords No 17 was more or less tacking above the neck all through the match, and we all know how he handled Terry Newton with Long/Gilmour/Gardner during the Wigan match seasons back.

I,m sure Warrington have issues with him as well...............he is only reffing superleague because there are not enough decent refs in the game.
