| Quote Saddened!="Saddened!"No. Look at the capitulation in the last few minutes. Falling over themselves in attack and so, so weak in defense. No composure at all and 13 players stood waiting for someone else to do the tackling.'"
Absolute nonsense, one of the worst posts I have seen lately.
We fought back from 12 points down with a completely patched up side against the champion side in their own backyard. It took them until the final play of the game to beat us. Surely, even in your warped mind, that constitutes "putting up a fight."

Yeah they did great for 78 minutes. Then turned into jellyfish. Do you want me to change my original post to say 'apart from the DW game'?

If you wish, and in doing so you will be admitting that your original post was wrong?

On reflection my orignal post was generally accurate and you are a pedant of the highest order.
Captain Pedantic should be your new name.

Ha ha. I genuinely 'laughed out loud' at that. Brilliant.
BUT, to say we havent put up a fight against any of the top sides is still wrong.
p.s. Avatar uploaded just for you.

Exactly the reason I can't often agree with Saddened. Far too critical of his side. The effort that day from Saints was outstanding. Trying to hang on at the end after such an effort was a massive ask. There was no 'jellyfish' syndrome. It was just complete and utter fatigue, and justified fatigue too.
Then again, and don't take this the wrong way, but I'd wager that a large quantity of Saints 'supporters' are glory hunters. Ie, the moment things aren't running like clock work, or the salary cap is finally tightening up the competition, the fact that your club isn't having things all their own way means that the majority of the squad are immediately not up to the job.
When Man Utd lost the title in the 09/10 season, all you heard spill out of their supporter's mouths were notions that 'he wasn't good enough', 'team needs a complete makeover' etc etc etc. Yet ironically, almost the very same group of players go onto regain the Premier League title and get to the CL final within the next 12 months.

I agree, to a certain extent.
Firstly, may I point out that I attended my first Saints games in the late 80's, so there is certainly no glory hunting with me!
I am not sure I would use the term glory hunter for what you are describing. I agree though that the expectations of some fans is perhaps a bit misguided, in that they demand success and cannot accept that you cant win everything, every season. Also, the reaction to the defeat against Wigan was completely ridiculous by some people. The amount of negativity that was spouted was laughable, given that only a fortnight earlier the same people were creaming themselves over the win against Leeds.
As for Saddened, I am slowly realising that most of his posts are an attempt at getting a reaction, as I dont believe anybody could have such a depressing outlook on his/her own team. You are spot on about what you have said with regards to the game at DW earlier in the season. I felt nothing but pride in our performance that day. To criticise us for that is simply idiotic.

Begs belief doesn't it!
Very fair response. Having re-read what I said in terms of glory hunting, I think the word 'minority' should have been thrown in. Those fans with intelligence toward the game would certainly look at your season objectively and understand the mitigating factors.
I've said before, you're hardly in a bad position league-wise. Touch wood you won't win tonight, however, if you did, you'd be one point off top spot. Some of our own fans, plus other fans have been raving about us, and although I'm more impressed with the Wire now than any other time since 93', we've had our share of bad losses this season.
The league, particularly in the top positions is incredibly tight. And I'd bet good money it will change a couple of times between now and the end of the season.

Cant argue with any of that mate.
Like you said, there are mitigating circumstances involved. Some people like to say that we are making excuses, but it is an undisputable fact that our injury 'luck' this season is absolutely atrocious. Eastmond and to a lesser extent the lack of a "home" are also factors.
All in all, I wouldnt say I am thrilled by what I have seen so far, but I am content. And I have faith that if and when we can field a full side, we will compete with any side in the competition, home or away.

Without a doubt. The only positive about injury is the oppurtunity to bring younger players in, and as the likes of Lomax, Gaskell etc have proven, Saints have quality players waiting for a chance.
Good to see a Saints fan keeping their chin up.
If you go tonight, enjoy mate! But not too much obviously !
