What does everyone think about the number of one year deals within the squad?



I think that Potter may be trying to create a mentality within the team of "I'm playing for a contract next year". While this just might work, what happens if we are struggling at the halfway point, and players start looking elsewhere. I know we have a good emerging set of young lads, but teams always need senior heads, players who know exactly how they need to play, and what they need to do. Are we running the risk of falling into another bad run if we don't have players secured?

I wasn't aware that we had a substantial amount of players on 1yr contracts. I think Herberts was based on seeing how well he did and settled before extending.



How's the protest going btw?

I'm there right now, with a placard bemoaning the lack of small and medium replica shirts, accessing this on my iPad.





As far as I'm aware its Platt, Halley, Walker, L'Estrange, Raynor, Royston, as well as Herbert as you said



I'm not sure about Scruton, his contract was for 3 years in 2008 wasn't it? That's 8 players I'm fairly sure of, there may be more though.

Nothing wrong with the one year deals IMO.

We also run the risk surely of players who do play well then wanting much improved contracts and/or having competition from other clubs that we can't match.



Its one of those with pros and cons. No point in not recognising the bad side of these deals.

Help you I can, yes. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.

Most of those on 1 year deals happy with I am.
