Well it is that time of the year. Will will be linked with anyone out of contract, especially those at the back end of their carreers. Also any decent players we have who are out of contract will be linked with other clubs. I don't expect the Club will change it's stance on not informing Fans of new signings in a timely manner. I also don't expect to be filled with entusiasm about incoming and outgoing deals.

I hear The Pope's coming over in September. Could there be anything in that?

If Menzies is leaving, it will be some signing to replace him! If he does leave we should be using the spot to recruit some class to our backline. We have enough quality in the 2nd row without using up a quota spot.



Noddy for Orford doesn't seem like a great bit of business either. Signing a player who is nearly 2 years older on a 1 year deal. Hopefully they will stay as rumours!

kimmorley said a while back he had no interest in moving to superleague a while back and announced he's retiring ar end of season a few days ago afaik.

I think the Menzies story is probably sensible...he can't be enjoying his rugby at the moment and he's probably listening to his body saying it's just not worth it. Glen Hall....I can but hope thats true, Scruton would be a huge loss unless as someone has mentioned it's to pay off a certain debt

And to cap it all off we'll probably give Worrincy a three year deal!....

But then why would Leeds take back a player they "let go" (albeit via offering a lowly contract renewal) for a fee or in due payment for a 6 figure annual sum, which won't be completed till the end of next year?

[uIF[/u Orford were to depart, we would almost certainly have to sign an Aussie replacement (no one ready to take over in our squad, no one currently available in the UK). Pretty much by definition, it would have to be a lesser or older player than Orford (better players in their prime being unlikely to want to jeopardise their representative career, while a Robbie-esque unknown would probably not get a work permit). If he's willing to come over, Kimmorley just about fits the bill, and a year (while monitoring Southernwood's progress and the availability of other players) also sounds reasonable. It's to be hoped that there would also be a significant saving to use elsewhere in the squad.

Any truth in the rumour that Richie Spedding is on his way to odsal? It would be difficult to fit him under the salary cap but he'd have the fans flocking back to odsal in their droves.
