Having had a couple of looks at it on The Guardian's website I'm a bit less inclined to think there was anything wrong with it. I'm not sure whether Scruton makes contact with Clinton's head or not, the angles and quality aren't great.
What makes it appear bad is that it's actually (it was massive, a real cruncher) a brutal collision between two 17 stoneish props at a pretty hefty rate of knots. I'm still not convinced that it's not dangerous play to jump into a tackle like that, however, this is RL and you can't penalise players for being big lads. I remember a much smaller player jumping and bringing down Fa'asavalu in a one on one which was rightly proclaimed a fabulous hit.
Interesting call from the RFL this one.

Live I thought it was just a great hit but, even with the low quality on the Guardians site, I can see why they'd take a look. Assuming the panel doesn't include Cummings and Ganson I'd be disappointed if he was found guilty.

Scroots, served a caution and red card for high tackle when he played for us. He should be ok. Dont think it was a bad tackle from the footage i saw, Dont know what the rfl will think though. I always liked him when he played for us, would always be looking to put a big hit in. Hope he does NOT get banned

Because nearly everyone in the ground that saw it live thought it was just a hard hit... including might I add the entire Hull KR team none of whom complained at the time, and your captain afterwards said on Radio it was just a big tacke that happens in Rugby League and it didn't affect the team or the player.
If the RFL rule differently then so be it, but having watched it again I still dont have a problem with it.
Webster clearly hits Donaldson in the head with his arm whilst he's being stepped so I can see why it was given a red. I've said before though on another thread that I dont think there was any malice in it, it was more a tired and frustrated poor tackle attempt IMHO and I wouldn't have sent him off. (I might be wrong about that too mind as I've not seen that incedent again since seeing it live, but I was standing only about 25m away from it) |

I have been trying to watch the replay on the guardian's site however every time a try and watch the highlights an advert comes up and cannot view it, could some one possibly advise why this is happening or provide a link.

Unless I am mistaken, there is no law against the use of the shoulder is there? Unlike the use of the elbow or knee. And as somebody else said, not one Hull KR player appeared to complain! Just accept it was a massive hit!
And unlike a hgih tackle right around the head..........

Am I the only one reminded of Ryan Bailey and James Graham last season? Shoulder made contact with head, everyone screamed it was a terrible tackle and RFL said there was nothing wrong with it (as did the referee on the field)?
