Jake the Peg:
It's pretty amazing that half way through the season we've played 8 away games and won 7 of them, only losing to a last minute try in the other one (ignoring the neutral magic game) whilst only playing half as many home games and our most difficult opposition now done at the mkm. Hopefully we can show some decent home form and if we do we should be in with a good chance of a top 6 finish whish is way beyond where I expected us to be.
The big challenge from here is keeping winning without asiata for a couple of months at least
The second half of the season will see us play nine home games with five away. After this month (June) ends we only play outside the city twice more (Wigan, St Helens) with eight of our last eleven fixtures at our place. Even by our disjointed standards in recent years that's an uneven fixture list!
Without wishing to get too carried away (this is Fc after all) I reckon eight more wins will see us in a play-off spot, we might even get away with seven. The two hardest games remaining are the 'big two' away, but even if we were to discount those that still leaves us looking at eight from twelve (favourable) games.
There's a lot of 50/50 games to play, with all of the mid-table pack still to come here. How we fare in those games will likely decide where we finish come September. Go really well and it's not impossible we could end up third!! Go really badly in these fourteen games and we could still end up ninth!! There's still an enormous amount to play for, but these past two victories mean we have it in our hands to clinch a, frankly, unexpected play-off spot.
Of course, us being us, no way will it be as straightforward as that! it never is with Fc
