| Quote Donnyman="Donnyman"Come on Snowy mate, Leeds were "linked" to Hunslet etc some years back but that did not provide the professional development Leeds operate now.
Superleague clubs run foundations to maximise kids exposure to RL and the best go through the academies they run. How can you excuse Catalans from having an academy when they DID run an academy in the past and it was a strong one. They stopped bothering and that was a disgrace.
They had the whole of France to recruit young players from.........
Wakefield would not get into Superleague by stating when asked about an academy they said they were[i "linked to Doncaster"? [/i'"
The product takes precedence over all. Tv money or development? Expansion can’t create development for 20 years! So the answer is TV money. Typical SL era.

| Quote snowie="snowie"when are you going to stop this constant raging about failings making you look like petulant child, none of the clubs have walked away from the game Widnes have chosen to do the same as Featherstone as their have other super league on their boundies two of the mentioned clubs are in the championship but you're chasting them for not having academies
Salford have budgeted and chosen do the same, ever thought that they might just want to keep afloat rather than not paying their bills
as for Toronto they did fail massively and had an oppertunity to correct it but walk away, the last time Iooked Salford, Widnes and Featherstone are all operational and looking forward to 2021'"
You can't keep using Toronto as an excuse to ignore the issues of the clubs mentioned, as you just have.
Either way have a Merry Christmas.

Thank you for the reply.
Not sure I agree expansion of the grass roots takes 20 years. Close to home Sheffield are 36 years on with little expanded?
Doncaster is a soccer town and nothing's expanded there since RL turned up in 1952
Les Catalans are on year 14 and are more an English team than ever
London are 40 years young and have some player development
Workington have gone 73 years losing over 9,000 speccies and scores of amateur players in the process
The answer is stability and you get that best (not perfect even then) along the M62.............

How about this
Toulouse coach Houles has said that the club recruit English players because moving to Toulouse gives them " [ia new start and a new perspective on life with their families here"[/i "The players and their families enjoy the climate, and the culture"
Nothing about giving any French players a start..............

Ergo, over 100 years on the M62 ,and they have failed expansion.
Lots of M62 clubs have suffered financial problems.
Your easy one - liners fail to take in any of the issues affecting some of the clubs, lacking broadcast money,as they encounter external problems.
Your glib writing style epitomises the attitude of the lucky folk who own top rated clubs and benefit from money given to them for being in the top bracket - at the lucky period in time.
Wigan,Widnes and Bradford would suggest stability is not the best along the M62.

I think you'll find London have a bit more than "some player developement", it's something Mr Hughes decided early on was important and has never abandoned, who knows, Covid may force him too, but I reckon if it was, he'd restart it again asap as it's clealy something he values.
"Jonah Verella, Josh Hodson, Will Blakemore, Rob Oakley and Jacob Jones have all signed first team contracts with the club and will join the first team set up for pre-season training in November.
The signing of these five players takes the home-grown element of the Broncos first team squad to around 70%, which is something Ward is immensely proud of."

That's great mate. I remember when LMS, Dixon and Clubb all appeared for Broncos and that was great. The 70% is fantastic too but that is across a Championship squad. That's fine if the club are competitive in the Championship, and even better if they got promoted and the London lads continued to hold their own in SL. Don't think Covid is going to force Mr. Hughes hand, vaccinations are ramping up etc etc.
Have a great season 2021.....
