Isn't the point of the vice captain to step in if the captain is unavailable? If this is the case it will be Morley.

Ellis, will be playing for longer then Morley so no point having Morley as a 1 or 2 year stop gap when you can have Ellis for another 3-5 years.

There are better players in his position available. I'm not a big fan of using players out of position - if McNamara's willing to put Sinfield in at 13, then by all means, he could captain the side. I don't think we should be so willing to play players out of position, and if we do we shouldn't be awarding that player captaincy, when he's not even in the squad in his best (or even 2nd best position). At hooker too, he will only be on the pitch for about half the game.

Gareth Ellis is the obvious captain in my opinion. Was a good leader on the field during his time at Wakey and Leeds and has now gained good experience 'darn under'.
