| To draw a comparison between Gooners/Cas and the biggest Origin fixture ever is hardly sensible, and a tad pointless, though? You could equally compare it with some of the dull-as-ditchwater NRL fare we have seen this season

| Quote johnhols="johnhols"Watched a recording of the game last night with a football fan who i'm converting to RL by watching weekly SL matches, he commented that the State of Origin was like watching in fast-forward, when the recording finished we switched the Wigan game on and that was in slow motion in comparison.
He also commented that he didn't realise how big a game rugby league was in Australia and commented a few times about the crowd.'"
Compare the two when we (Wigan) play Wire in the cup, that will be a totally different game! Also Wigan did what we had to do last night considering we hardly had a pack. It was never going to be pretty.

| a totally different game yes, but still not anywhere near the sustained pace of Origin, every single tackle will not be a bone cruncher, every single run will not look like they are literally trying to smash through a wall, and they will not be fighting and struggling like their lives depended on it in every tackle, when superleague players often just accept tackles.
its still silly to compare Wire V Wigan to Origin.

| My god, you poms are no where near as bad as some of you whinge about.
Yes you have been tonked at bad times over the last 20 years, but at times you buggers have been so bloody close only to have victory snatched away with a min to go.
Bugger SOO, I want Internationals to get the promotion and praise SOO gets.
The ESL will get there eventually and I don't think it's as far away as a lot of you seem to think, so sit back, enjoy the wins and loses and one day out of the blue, you guys will get your revenge and that revenge will end up being the sweetest of them all.
You guys will get there

| His original comment about State of Origin being on fast-forward was whilst watching that and his comparison was based on the Super League games he has watched recently including the recent Wigan and Warrington games.
ps. think he's converted now though.

Our Squad is not that bad (apart from in the three quarters) we just need a proper coach who knows how to drill a team. Micheal Maguire would be perfect, but will never happen.

I love SOO, but I would much prefer a real international competition with most teams that can compete.
You guys will get there'"

There’s more chance of the Sharkies winning the G.F before England win a test series.
Sure, they may win the odd game, but so do the blues.
A couple of generations of supporters have never witnessed a series win, and judging by the latest crop, it will be a fair while yet.
Our only hope is to get enough English players in the NRL.

| All the knockers of our game should realise why we are behind, it is nothing to do with money or coaching, it is down to participation we simply do not have enough kids playing the game. The southern hemisphere have more kids playing hence the bigger pool of players good enough to fill the ranks of thier top teams (& ours as well) It is not rocket science if we had the the same percentage of kids to population playing the game here we would produce three times the number of top players than Australia could. It is also a cultural thing I remarked to a friend at a game last sunday that probably not one of the British players on the field (Robins v Wakey) had ever played the game other than in organised club games from mini up through the age groups to becoming pro,s. That is about thirty games a year & a couple of nights training a week whereas the Aussies & the rest of the Southern hemisphere will play outside in the parks in make up games (jumpers for goal posts & all that), travel around that part of the world you will see gangs of young people playing touch or kicking a ball around. When was the last time anyone saw a bunch of kis playing a game in the UK?
Having said all that it should still not stop us trying & giving it 100% when we do play them. The fans just need to be realistic about what is going on & give the boys there full support.

| I thought Leeds v Wigan in the play offs last year was a better game and easily matched the tempo of yesterdays SoO game. It certainly didn't have Anthony Minichello spilling the ball every couple of minutes. It goes to show what a difference confidence makes.
Somebody else mentioned, the Aussies play a structured game and not off the cuff. When they Aussie national team plays to it's best, they line up all their runners and the half back, normally, has the ability to read what the defence is going to do select the right pass. GB/England are the masters of scooting, and that's about it!!

If your mate liked SOO, you should get him to watch the Kiwi’s play Rugby league – now that is the pinnacle of our sport
