But the competition is called the European Super League, not the Wakefield, Salford or anybody else Super League. We need to spread the game as far as we possibly can. (Apologies to the clubs named above, just using them as examples, it could have been any club.)

Yes in an ideal world we need to spread it as far as we possibly can but the fact of the matter is the English game is on its @rse and I think we need to sort that out first before bringing in any other foreign teams.

It isnt sticking local or expanding that is the issue, it is making sure whatever you do is successful, what we dont need is another Celtic disaster

The issue at the moment is lack of funds due to Red Hall's incompetence, the potential for sponsorship increases the with the exposure of the game. Combined with the mooted French TV deal, i'm with Wrencat - it's a no-brainer.



I'd also contest that the game is "on its booty"



It's tough times, but diposable income is tight these days and we are still around the same sort of attendances that we getting 4- 5 years ago. I'd say we have hit a plateau and are in danger of stagnating, but if Toulouse can "do a catalan" then it could be a massive boost the game.

In what was was it a disaster? Obviously the whole thing didn't work out, but what is the overwhelming negative legacy on the sport that would qualify it as a 'disaster'? We now have two strong semi-pro Welsh clubs, a player pathway for juniors in Wales and numerous talented young Welsh players at various SL clubs, none of which would exist without the 'Celtic disaster'. The overall net effect is still a good one even if the club itself didn't work out due to poor administration.

Hopefully not, it would have made more sense to increase the size of SL by one club but, we are way beyond that now (with the RFL seeming determined to go for the 2 x 12 and 3 x 8 option).



Just a quick question for you.

Would Toulouse of Fev (as an example) add more value to SL ?

How would it make sense to expand a competition where money being distributed is already too low?



And Toulouse would offer far more. What would Fev offer that isn't already being offered?

Including Toulouse would increase the overheads of the visiting clubs (something they could do without at present!) and be another away match most supporters couldn't afford to attend.



Also don't forget that during the time Celtic was in SL, it not only deprived a more suitable team of a place but also drained money from RFL funds.
