NSW need to get Hayne back into the side at fullback. Other than that they shouldn't look at too many changes (one of their mistakes over the last few years), but they desperatly need more firepower in the front row. The tactic of Young at hooker early failed miserably as well. The worrying thing for NSW is if Inglis is back he'll add an extra dimension to Qld's attack, and there's no way they could survive that degree of defence again without conceding a lot of points.

He did his shoulder in the 16th minute and played out the entire game with a stuffed shoulder.



Mal Meninga was at great pains at the press conference to emphasise Tonga's role and his courage. I tend to agree with him. I'll forgive him for not passing when a try was on, even though it was before the injury.

Still have a massive gripe about sky's pre game, absolutely kills any hype of the game and leaves me feeling really flat. Also shows Jon Wells lack of knowledge of the NRL.

I refuse to watch anything that has Brian Carney presenting it. I recorded the game and fast forwarded the bits with him in it.

I read something earlier about the quality of these origin players being of less quality than that of the early nineties and i disagree. I think it is on par of that of the early nineties teams and is gaining in both strength and depth. Back then you had Langer, Stuart, Daley and Fittler at halfback. Now they have Thurston, Lockyer and Soward who are definately comparable. Cam Smith is as good as Steve Walters was. Slater, Hayne and Dugan are better than Brasher, Mullins and Shearer. Inglis, Jennings, Gasnier, Boyd, Uate, Morris et al are as good if not in some instances better as the outside backs of the nineties. And the old English fallacy of the Aussie pack being poor is rubbish as the likes of M Scott,Thaiday, Civonaceva, Gallen looked good with plenty of good young forwards coming through. I first started watching Origin in the 90s and i like to romantasise about that era. But what impressed me yesterday was the quality across the board with plenty players injured or not even picked. I think the Aussies are still producing quality and quantity just as in that decade.

Carney is now the best pundit/presenter that sky have for rugby league. Well spoken, presents the game without bias or repetitive stupidity (stevo).



That said, sack them off or just let Carney bring in the coverage to hand over to 9. Wells has had a shocker when ever he has had his 10 seconds having to go to his clip board, getting names wrong or calling the Thurston on Uate strip a poor carry.
