the core RLIF eligibility laws are no different to any other sporting governing body (birth,residency & heritage) the problem lies in the fact that the RLIF is selfserving in the fact that its top 4 officials run the ARL,NRL,RFL & NZRL...therefor they can and do allow player to switch nations to their nations....





we need a independent RLIF if anything

and effectively kill 4 international teams....yeah that one way to grow the game...

An independent RLIF wont help the problem.



Danny Brough will still be left with the same choice he has now. Either give up on ever playing top tier rugby league or turn his back on Scotland.



Until there is a viable alternative then players will take a nationality of convenience.



If Scotland were playing top level RL this year, or Scottish RL players were eligible to play top level RL for a GB team, he wouldnt need to swap.

the fact is players like brough turned out for scotland because at the time they were'nt good enought for england...so they should be made responsible for their choices...

Because the 17 who play for Scotland will be playing in some low profile competition somewhere in europe if they are lucky. Do you know what Scotlands fixtures are this year?

Do you know the last time Scotland played one of the big three in a full international? In your plan, Brough wont choose to ever play for Scotland because playing for Scotland means you are giving up on playing against Aus/Eng/NZ



as for Ferguson what is he actually giving up by nailing his colours to Englands mast?

I think there should be both competitive and financial benefits to playing for Second Tier Nations. I think these sides need competitive fixtures, and a chance to play serious rugby for Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Italy and France.
