Fitness was a factor but actually being able to catch a ball and put a tackle in is usually quite a key requirement of being full back. Neville the Devil would have been more dependable. Pathetic performance really.

Arrived at the game in high spirits with the new regime coming on board. I half expected a drubbing but the passing was atrocious especially from fages and McGoldrick for half backs at this level. Rhys Williams looked overweight and unfit to me, murphy looked disinterested overall very disappointing display but under the circumstances it's understandable why. i noticed very basic schoolboy errors being committed on that field which quite simply wasn't superleague standard. We got battered by a very average Wigan team, I've seen better Wigan teams than that in the past 30 years. Mr Koukash joined us after the game and promised better players Will be joining us in the coming months which gives me optimism and clear indication that things can only get better.



Phil and Sean have got there hands full with that lot.

He did make a few mistakes, all players do at times.But for the Salford fans to cheer ironically after he did take an high ball won't really do his confidence any good.

I know i have critizised club in the past but this time i can see it as it is half these players have been thrown together at last munute and are bound to struggle with any game play the team needs to get to know each other. It is not going to happen just like you expect and once we start playing togeather. It must have been hard for these players money but critiziseing a team that you know have not been together long is a joke. Some of you just expect miricales to happen there and then

That's harsh they have Tomkins so I think they'll come at least 13th.

Anything other than bottom of the league will be a bonus. You can't expect to throw a team together at such short notice, especially in key positions, and expect anything against a team like Wigan.

The result last night means little - it's the performance that counts. I saw plenty of effort and that'll do me. Yes, the attack was poor - it's going to take weeks for that to start falling into place. Murphy had a shocker - still unsure how a couple of games in Super League make him vastly more experienced than Evalds. McGoldrick as one of the senior players was very poor - no excuses for so many handling errors and sloppy passes - he needs to step up and assume some responsibility and help lead the team. On a positive note I thought McPherson and Gledhill ran hard and straight. And best of all young Fages: great varied kicking game, couple of off the cuff plays, not afraid to take on the line - a superstar in the making. Clearly O'Loughlin thought so when he tried to take his head off...

Come on Butcher, were not expecting miracles, any halfback what cannot pinpoint a 10 - 15 yard pass to hand is pretty bad. We are talking superleague here. Age means nothing if you're good enough you're old enough I take it you wasn't at the game as usual. I've heard nothing but praises about this young French lad, I hope he proves me wrong but a spade is a spade in my world, didn't see any flashes which I've seen in many of young talent to come through our academy. I feel for the kid he's simply out of his depth but applaud his endeavours attitude and bravery.

Here here butcher. A very large number of reds fans have no patience and need to realise rome wasnt built in a day. The very fact that we had a team to turn out last night is one of great relief. Well Phil he won the Man of the Match given by a top Player from the 70s so there must have been something there. I thought his kicking was good & he saw the gaps when presented.



Totally agree about the passing and Longy has to get them to spin pass (sadly even the Rah Rahs pass better) & also pass like Matty Smith - deeper and to a man on the burst.
