We'd have been able to offer him decent terms with J.Webster been on a alright package, so that'd help with persuading him. We might have played like 'u10's on Sunday, playing downright garbage as well against you lot but come on, Hull KR > Salford IMHO.

The other way of looking at this is, it may just be that the coaching staff don`t think Gleeson is good enough for next year and have made no attempt to keep him ! Maybe they have better players in the pipeline! I don`t think Gleeson is a huge loss, yes he`s been good in attack THIS year [ is this the Longy influence but his defense is very suspect. [ I remember the Wakey fans pointing that out when we signed him I say again, the one we should really make sure we keep hold of is Sean Long. With his influence I don`t think it matters who replaces Gleeson ,or Smith for that matter.

No wrong, the coaches wanted to keep him, he wanted to go! Simple. There is no one avalible at the moment who will be able to a better job for us than Gleeson!

Agreed on Long but let's be honest here he's not a miracle worker. We can't continually pluck randomers from lower divisions/lost souls from Super League and turn them into quality players just because we have Sean Long coaching them. A big chunk of our attacking play this season has been down to Long, but equally as much has come from the backs being really bloody good anyway.

Agree entirely, lost count how many times we look to be buidling a half decent team only for better funded SL clubs come along and pick off our best players. However, we pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and get on with it. Good luck next year Sean, it's been a pleasure watching you and Danny Williams link up this season.

Bigger loss than Matty Smith IMO. Look back at how many tries he scored or setup for Williams with a cheeky offload when all looked lost. Gutted he's going.

On the other hand Gleeson as shown on this thread is quality. HKR have got themselves a good un. At this rate next season we will have no back line to go with this seasons no forward line.

He will be hard to replace as he seems to make things happen down his wing bu maybe they will finally bring in one of the youngsters and give them a go. Remember when McAvoy was given his chance and he went on to become a bit of alright.

Let's be honest a kid will never have a much better attacking coach than Long, a much better to learn the ropes from than Moon and a faster winger outside him than Williams, what about that massive lad they brought in who's played at Northampton RU and Saints? I've seen him and he certainly has the physical attributes and definately has tonnes of pace.

So Prestwich Red would have stayed with us on less money,that's loyalty or stupidity.

call me stupid but i stayed on less money on a project in Seedley and langworthy a few years back, because I believed in what I was doing was actually of some value to the people in the area.

You reckon you could poach one of our highly rated centres? Or one of our best rated youngsters in Scott Taylor? His contract is running out, maybe Salford should throw money at him, I'd highly doubt he'd go though.



And if you say his sole motivation is money, well we'll enjoy a couple of years out of him then before his inevitable move back to Wigan.
