No, but Cas now have a massive amount of salary-cap space with Sherwin's move to Catalans (apparently on between 100k-150k depending on who you listen to), plus an overseas quota spot.

100-150k? If that's the case then it's no wonder they've got rid.

Worst value-for-money signing ever in my opinion. Consider how much of our cap he has taken for the past two and a half years, so plenty of room to make new signings in the half-back department.

Yeah. Good riddance at that price... He was on the way down when he came over here. But hey, look around Super League and there are a few overpriced Aussies knocking about. Fitzgibbon and O'Meley were dire in their final year in Aus. I'm pretty sure they'll be on a fair sized wage at Hull though.

Think Fitzgibbon got POTY in his last season at the Roosters.
Whatever we are paying Fitz and O Meley they are worth every penny, been fantastic for Hull this season.
Holdsworth will be a good signing for anyone in SL, looks to me like he has used Salford to get over here and get a deal with a bigger club.

With the new stadium coming up and the promise of bigger and brighter things I would hope Reg sees the potential and stays.
He was not playing in Oz and in a real Rutt, Salford gave him a chance and he has took it with both hands.
We can not afford to get the so called stars so hunt around for bargain basement.
Over the past few years we have come up trumps, it just pi$$es me off when other clubs who can not be ar$ed doing their homework then come along with their cheque books.

POTY in a very poor Roosters side. I had the misfortune of watching them play on numerous occasions last year when living in Sydney.
Not disputing what you say with regards to their contribution for Hull but suspect that this may be another glaring example of the difference in quality between the NRL and Super League. When two players can play as poorly as they did in the NRL in 2009 can come over here and be regarded as top quality players, surely questions have to be asked...
As for whether they meet their value, well, we'd have to find out what they're being paid in comparison to the rest of the squad first. Although I suspect, on balance, that their pay cheques would be a little over-inflated.

| Reading the articles about Holdsworth being offered a new deal, a lot of them make for very similar reading to the news stories about Myler's contract offer last season. I wouldn't be surprised to see him announced as leaving come the end of the season which would be very disappointing.

| There is a great difference between the Holdsworth and Myler stories though - Myler was on a contract that had further to run, it quickly became an open secret that he was going to Wire as they had a limitless pot of money, and because of that the club were going to make a significant chunk of cash.
As I understand it Dan Holdsworth is only signed for a season and is a free agent anyway, so it won't cost any other club anything in transfer fees, therefore it's inevitable that everyone will be sniffing around - he's a GOOD player!
I hope that he looks at the bigger picture, gets a good contract offer from Salford, sees the new stadium coming along and would like to be a part of the rise of Salford that we all know is coming (honest!!)

| I was more referring to the fact that we're making it known in the press that we're offering him a new 3 year deal. Like with Myler, I get the impression that the club are putting details out in the press to try and placate the fans by showing that they've doing everything possible to retain Holdsworth. I don't mind being wrong about these suspicions though...
