I like him as a fella and one thing's for sure, on the rocky boat that is Salford this appointment will settle the ship at the right time. The players like him, he already has an idea of what he has to play with and now he gets a little bit of freedom to call the shots properly.



Too many people on here want change change change with regards to coaching without fully understanding the dynamics of a Club environment. Vievers is a safe choice, granted, but not necessarily a bad one.

Bit unfair to judge a stand-in coach for a few games based on a training and management regime that was already in place.

He's aware of the systems in place at the Club.

He's familiar with how the Club is run.

He's already built relationships with his players.

He's aware of what is required to improve the team.

The players respect and like him.

He's aware of budgets.

He's aware of the constraints in place.

He's unlikely to run away at the first sign of adversity.

He understands and has experience of SL.

The team does not have the worry of wholesale changes that are not based on knowledge.

He's aware of the reality of coaching Salford.

I didn't say he would be a good choice, just that he wouldn't be the worst choice. I respect the fact that you are an expert at spotting/writing drivel when it's written so I'll refrain from further comment.

It's a sad state of affairs when a Swinton fan makes more sense than most of the 'Salford' fans on here.

How would you know Eccles? You don't go to matches. I seem to remember that Warrington - yes those free scoring chaps from down the road - didn't score too many tries against us at the HJ?

In defence of eccles i seem to remember we played warrington in the same weekend most of their squad players played in the international fixture 2 days prior, Thats why we won that game.
