with over 20 assassination attempts and 4 actual "hits", I suggest being a Salford coach is a touch safer.
Mind you G W Bush as head coach does take a bit of ...

| Andrew Dunneman has been linked in the MEN as well as Graham Murray, Daniel Anderson, Jim Dymock and Rick Stone so it looks pretty obvious that we are going down the Aussie route. Adrian Lam wasn't mentioned this time but Dunneman has got the old imagination going, good shout I reckon and he will have the support of the fans straight away IMO. Out of the others mentioned maybe Daniel Anderson would be a great shout given his record with Saints. Still would be Lam for me but Dunneman could be a PR masterstroke as well as a coaching masterstroke!!

Dunneman , Dymock , Murray , Anderson , Lam .
must admit I doubt we would have dreamed of any of these names being linked with us 4 years ago .
It's more probable the Post is faster from Sydney to Salford , than from any local Sorting Office these days .

| I said it months and months ago, Adrian lam would be my choice. I'm sticking with this. He knows the British game, has been working in the St George coaching team spearheaded by Wayne Bennett and would certanly revel in being a head coach as opposed to a Toyota cup coach.

| the club really need to make sure they find the coach who not only know the game well, but tough enough mentally, and an exceptional motivator. McRae had the knowledge, but not the heart or desire, Harrison mental toughness and was a great motivator. What we need now is combination of those two. When Hull were at their best, not just relying on Jason Smith, McRae had Kear alongside him. It showed in their performances, some Hull's defence was excellent, lets call that the Kear effect. They also played some good strong rugby, with young players coming through.
Actually typed that last statement to prove what a good combination Kear and McRae made. Thinking about it, did McRae bring anything to the Hull team? It would appear, to me anyway, that Kear could have been more influential then the public were allowed to believe.
Back on topic. Given the success Wigan gained from having a reletively unknown Aussie, and the strife a proven name has gotten Salford into, you would have to think the club are going to appoint a younger coach, this time. If the board do appoint a young coach, I would suggest it's probably better to give him an off season to turn it round. After all, the players don't look particularly well conditioned, so it would be better to give any new coach a clean slate to work with. Of the previous SL coaches mentioned, Daniel Anderson would be my choice. I'd still like to see Lam, Dunneman or, maybe, Wrigley given a chance.

| Whoever we get, they need a combination of PROVEN ability not just the fact they're an aussie (remember John Harvey anyone?) and as LincolnDevilsFan says, mental toughness with the ability to impose a level of discipline at the club that seems to have been missing (player power anyone?)

Question , Would Michael Maguire have received the same plaudit's had he took up the reigns at Salford and not inherited one of the best / biggest squad's and most developed youth systems in SL ....
Again Question , Would Daniel Anderson have received the same plaudit's had he gone to Salford and not a team packed with Winning experience & up & coming talent.
In Estate Agents terms , we have the Location - SL , but this house is in need of renovation. how many of the candidates have prooved their mettle by pulling up an ' also ran ' into a contender ...
