| Quote Walshovski="Walshovski"Yet more nonsense from you. We can't afford to pay the players and you are only 'hoping' we default on £2m worth of loans to the council in an attempt to shaft them?
No doubt you'll come back with an embarrassing insult to mask your total lack of knowledge about anything.'"
Now now don't be childish and keep on topic.
Re the loans yes partly I hope that the club don't pay the council back as a direct result of what has happened today, I also see that the council by coming to the conclusion they have today are failing to help try and secure a very important city institution.
Then again in other ways I hope they do get the money back as a great deal of good will (potentially) be done with this and the people of the city deserve better.
I am as much a Salford fan as anyone on here and am currently sitting here wondering if I've watched my last Salford game, met for the last time friends I see really only at games and yes it's emotional so if you feel the need to make this a personal issue then feel free to but I draw my line in the sand on any further replies to you as there are more important things and issues to discuss here.

| So let's see all those wonderfully loyal supporters who've been here for all of 5 minutes pick the positives out of this then.

| Quote The Realist="The Realist"This is indeed potentially the beginning of the end for a once great Club that I have supported for over 40 years and yet realistically if it isn't viable then like any other business it has to pay the consequences.
Much has been written on this forum about the Chairman, what he has and has not done, what mistakes he has made etc... one thing for certain though is he will not have wanted the Club to have ended up financially striken as it is now.
My last balance sheet 12 months ago for the 2010 year showed yet another loss (£400k if I remember correctly) and that John Wilkinson was in overall for almost £5 million. The basic fact is that without his funding the Club would have reached this financial meltdown a lot quicker than it has. There were of course the benefits at the Willows of the Variety Centre & Bars to subsidise this and this is now the crux of the issue, those revenue streams are no longer there, no longer providing an income with which the Club can be subsidised, our cash cow of the last 30 years can no longer be relied on.
John Wilkinson has certainly not got everything right in his 30 year tenure but he has kept the Club in existence so for that we must be thankful, it is therefore all the more calamatous that these funds have dried up in mid. recession both for us and for John as his monies which he was ultimately expecting to recover will to be gone for good when the Club is wound up in January.
I won't hold my breath waiting for the RFL to fornicate over us as they did Bradford, I am sure they can't wait for us to disappear off the radar and be replaced by another Yorkshire Club in Featherstone who they will doubtless bankroll as they have London for more years than I care to remember.
The future looks bleak and of course we can't even fall back on The Willows, it lies demolished, rather like our Clubs future dreams.
We have for many years shook our heads and tut utted at the likes of London, Bradford, Widnes, Swinton et al, all who have gone to the wall leaving a trail of unpaid debts behind them only to rise phoenix like from the ashes. Is it our turn now? Only time will tell but I won't be holding my breath!'"
Great post, I too have been watching for nearly 40 years and agree with your comments especially re the RFL, to be honest I'm numb about all this, devastated just about covers it and don't see anything other than a newco being formed in the championship, if we do form a newco RLFC maybe we could groundshare at Agecroft with Swinton?
Whatever form the phoenix rising from the ashes takes it will still be my/our club and I'll/we'll follow them to wherever they play.
Maybe we could go for a "Salford Devils" moniker, who knows this could be the start of something.

| What's the point in blame? The outcome is the same. In this instance no one thing has contributed to Salford's downfall. A number of things over many years has slowly degraded the Club to this point. If some of those things were done differently we may not have been in this situation maybe. My gut feeling, if you look back over the last twenty odd years without personal vendetta, is that a Club which does not find a winning formula on and off the pitch is only going to last so long.
TBH it's pretty amazing we lasted this long.
We've been caught in a downward spiral for many years now. Unsuccessful marketing, mundane on-field fortunes, apathetic support to name a few causing a catch-22 we can't get out of.
A sad day in which blame, argument, and ego should take a step back on these forums for once.

| Not been on the forums for 12 months now,but the R.F.L. should do the same for you as they did for the Bulls and London. If they dont the only alternative is fold and start again in the championship debt free. With Swinton looking likely to own their own ground a groundshare at Agecroft looks the best bet for both clubs.Promotion and relegation looks to be back on you could be back in S.L. IN 2 years time good luck for the future hope it works out.

It is SL and SKY that have caused this to happen.
They would be happy just to see the same top 4 clubs win games week in week out.
I will follow Salford in whatever guise they hopefully reappear in through thick and thin.
Go and support Leeds or Wigan now if you are so obsessed with the SL.

| Michigan Red are you trying to inpersonate a clown?
I don’t agree with Mrs Garrido's politics but she would be failing in here duty not to voice her concern, you keep going on about morons, but you don't mention name's or does the word bottle and no apply?
Maybe John's good friend Steve could help, now there was money wasted! Surely you must agree with that!
