| Quote Early Bath="Early Bath"It is hard to comprehend if/why a current English RL International playing in the World Cup hasnt got a Visa to do so. Maybe Nottingham Tiger could answer.'"
Of course.
Sporting regulations and legal regulations are completely seperate.
Chase is entitled to play for England based on residency grounds (ie he has lived for a certain period of time in the country he is representing).
However, his time in the country does not entitle him to a Visa or to British Citizenship.
The key is in your misunderstanding in your post - he is not "English" just because he is able to represent England, and as such requires a Visa or Citizenship to work in the counrty.

| Quote nottinghamtiger="nottinghamtiger"This was indeed an interesting case, and one of only a few I can think of where the government (in this case Jack Straw) interfered with the UKBA immigration officials. The government's argument was that it was a very, very short-term Visa which would financially benefit British companies (two of which faced bankrupcy if the fight was cancelled). In fact I don't think it was even an employment visa, but rather the "right to enter" the UK as a visitor as any payment was made by his international promotor.
Rangi Chase's case is very different as it is a full employment Visa.'"
So your earlier reply stating that no Visa has ever been granted to anyone was incorrect wow a lawyer that gets things wrong who would have believed that
and just another one you might like to correct is you say the Government's argument was that it was a short term Visa then how come Tyson remained in this country and did payed after dinner speaking until he fought agian in Glasgow
On the 24 June six month's later.
Your reply to Waywood Fan was another thing I must question you on with respect he could say that you too are not Chase or the UKBA offical and if you are claiming because you work in immigration you have some inside information I'm confident you would be aware client confidentiality so unless you are working on the case you have as much knowledge as the rest of us.

I'll deal with the one first. At no point do I claim to have any "inside information" on this particular case. All I have done is outline the legal position from the perspective of my work in similar cases. Indeed, everything I have said can be found in the UKBA's guidance on Visas and Citizenship, the regulations are all on their website for reference should you wish to peruse them. I would consider that I have more knowledge than most about the guidelines, regulations and precedents in such cases.
With regards to the Mike Tyson situation:
There are a number of different types of Visas that can be issued (casual/tourist/student/employment for example). Tyson was given a tourist Visa that allowed him to enter the UK (whether he should have been given this is a bone of contention). These are unually valid for between 6-12 months (classed as short-term). He was not given a working Visa but this was not needed as he was not employed by a UK registered company - his managament company were American and they paid him the necessary fees etc.
As I said in my first post today (and failed miserabely) this issue has been done to death before and I didn't want to get into it again (particularly as I'm having a day off and I've ended up discussing bloody Visa regulations!!). He might get the Visa he needs, nothing is ever set in stone.

I should have been more specific - I meant no employment Visa, sorry if this confused you.

Could it be then that Chase may be being paid by a company not registered in this country then....Maybe Dubai? Where MK has business interests .

It's possible, but if it's paid into a British bank account it will certainly have tax implications (sounds a bit like Harry Redknapp's case where it appeared that the Portsmouth owner thought paying someone from abroad was untraceable). With the salary cap I don't think Koukash would be stupid enough not to have Rangi Chase's salary on Salford's accounts, in which case he will need a Visa.

| So much talk about visas & the UKBA , it difficult to fathom how Theresa May finds the time to come on here & consult on Rangi's visa issues when she seems preoccupied with detaining partners of Guardian Journo's .
Maybe when the police said they were searching for"journalistic materials" they meant ' the Rangi Tapes , & proof of Salary Cap contravention , and this whole business of GCHQ - NSA - Edward Snowden & MI5 is a smokescreen .....

| He's got a visa to work in the UK. Whether that's with us, Saints or whoever we shall have to wait and see. He has got a visa though.
