| Sally, do you think Old Trafford may seem less of an event because (a) it is 100 years or so younger than the Challenge Cup Final & (b) it is a lot closer so can be treated as a normal away game rather than a full day trip out?

Nail on the head there for me.
The whole romance of the challenge cup is about the day out at Wembley, and it is a fantastic competition to win.
But on a competitive front, champions of super league is a much higher acclaim.
Then again, topping the league is the hardest challenge of all and that gets the least acclaim.
FWIW, I know a lot of you won't feel the same. But i'd rather win the super league once than the challenge cup twice. I'm not trying to belittle your achievement but who have you had to beat? Granted you can only beat whats put in front of you and fair play for doing so, but if you offered them to the players which do you think they'd rather achieve?

No offense but the likes of hudders (in great form) and Leeds and Wigan all of whom were punching there usual best seems harder than Hull Kr, a team of Leeds youngsters and Saints, who never mind didn't have half backs, they didn't turn up.

| I would rather have the two challenge cup's. The whole feeling off waking up at 5am to board a coach and not returning till about 10pm makes it a better experience. It is a bigger achievement winning the grand final but Wembley is better than it.

I don't think it's the age, I think it's partly to do with it being closer but also partly because the Grand Final here doesn't seem to be given the same treatment that the NRL Grand Final is....I do think we could build it up a bit better. Obviously I've never seen Warrington in it but I've been to loads of Grand Finals as a neutral and the occasion all seems a bit rushed compared to the Challenge Cup final. I think the fans get slightly short changed.
However I'm not sure what else they could do, if they brought the kick off earlier and made a bit of extra razzmatazz it would just be like copying the Challenge Cup final, so maybe its best being as it is now, the Challenge Cup final is the game's flagship event, and the Super League Grand Final is the ultimate prize at the end of the season.
The funny thing is, if someone said to me now, would you swap winning the Challenge Cup in 2011 and 2012, or nothing in 2011 and the Super League Grand Final in 2012, I'm not sure which I would take, because the Challenge Cup wins have been so good I would like more of it, and doing 4 in a row is starting to get into history territory. The other bizarre fear in my mind is if we win a Grand Final soon, I might lose some of my enthusiasm for RL, because that will mean we've done everything, it would be nice to be a top side, winning Challenge Cups, and always having the Grand Final as the one that's eluded us, a bit like the Champions League was for United fans before 1999.....as long as we eventually do win it!

| makes me laugh this a couple of years ago Wigan fans would be telling us at every opportunity that they won the Challenge cup 8 times on the bounce...everyone knows this ...no one knows that they won the league even more times on the bounce because the romance AND the occasion has and always will be with the Challenge Cup especially at Wembley.....
And How Bizare is it that the Same Wigan fans that havent been to Wembley for FIFTEEN long painful hurtfull years are now telling us its an easy competition to win..!!! well have a go at it if it so easy.....
its just a knockout competition....
I mean its not like you can..... say oh i dont know....do something like.... lose in the first round and then have another go against lesser opposition to get back in...is it......
knockout my ar$e
I had the same conversation earlier on tonight I'd have the same again next year ...no problem...

Extremely bizarre, unless you slept through 1998? Perhaps cast your mind back 8 years too, that was an interesting Cup year.
Quote the flying biscuitits just a knockout competition....'"
Finally you get something right

| The CC will always be the fans, and players, one to win. Even Cunningham said the highlight of his career was lifting the CC.
The GF is little more than a cut down knock-out, where some teams get a second chance.
The True champions are the team that win the league, and though it pains me to say congrats to Wigan for that, it's just Sky and their money spinning media that try to make the GF big.
Would football have a play off at the end of the season to decide the champions? Think a certain Mr F would have something to say about that!
