| I'm suprised that so many have included Brett Hodgson especially after only being here for one season, he's a good extra half back in attack and he's a first class goal kicker but as a last line of defence and defusing kicks he aint the best.
For greatest Wire fullback we should be looking at the likes of Brian Johnson, Steve Hesford and Derek Whitehead, i'm sure we've had other great fullbacks as well before those named above from different eras.

But a lot of fans on here are younger and won't remember those guys.

Can't quite remember a hookers name, signed from cronulla, missed a kick at wilderspool in his last game of the season from right infront of the sticks.'"
If it's Danny Farrar then he was from Penrith not Cronulla. He played for Penrith against us in the 1997 World Club Challenge, scored a try at Wilderspool if I remember. I think Sid Domic was in that team as well. Penrith had a young Craig Gower coming through so Farrar was available at the end of the season and DVDV signed him. From what I remember of Farrar he was superb in his first season (199icon_cool.gif, talked of as one of the contenders for Man of Steel at one point. In 1999 and 2000 he was OK, his knees had gone then so he was not much of an attacking threat but his defence was good. It caused a bit of bad blood that Farrar got a heroes reception in the final game of the season, when it was actually the farewell for Forster and Hilton as well and they didn't but we didn't know it was their last game at the time, so that wasn't Farrar's fault.

True, Derek Whitehead and Steve Hesford were a bit before my time but ive been told how good they were from some good judges. I saw a bit of Steve Hesford towards the end of his career including the famous Hesford goalkeeper leap to keep the ball in play from an opposition kick, i guess that was bred into the family with his brother being a goalkeeper, was it blackpool he played for ?

| I started watching Wire about 1959. Few names that seem to be missing ...
Bobby Fulton, Alex Murphy and John Bevan (do not confuse with "his dad" Brian Bevan). You can't leave these out. Bobby Fulton didn't play many games, Alex was passed his best (but he was a buzz of energy every time he got the ball), John Bevan was a great.
