Well there are forfeits but Ratchford at FB is a much better runner in broken play from centre field behind a dominate pack.



Tonight our forwards were slightly the better but our back line were turned inside out.

How did paul wood cost us The the game? He got sinbinned but so did pettybourne ( unfairly) so it was 12 a side

That incident seemed to swing things wigan's way again.

The Monas pass was the killer. We'd taken the sting out of the Wigan comeback and were beginning to reassert ourselves and we went for the miracle play instead of being patient. Another try and Wigan would have crumbled.



Monas is a wonderful player but his record for giving away interceptions is a fairly good indicator as to why he has never cut the mustard at scrum-half.

It is a hard call to make. I'll agree Ratch is better at gliding around people in broken play, but then I think Russell's kick returns with his speed and power put us on more of the front foot than Ratchfords stuttering run back to the defensive line.

Poor decision on kick at hb, silly penalties, daft passes cost us the game.

He does run from dummy half with quick ptb. He just doesn't often break from a deep position like we see from Matty Bowen, or Ratchford. Russell seldom breaks from deep, he isn't strong enough to break chasing tacklers but he is illusive and can be a menace against tired forwards fatigued from constant defending.

There is only one reason we lost that game, because we played like Warrington at a time we should have played like Leeds.



Soon as that penalty was converted, we should have cooled the offloads, not spread the play as much and looked for touch or kicked so deep they had worst case scenario a 20m restart.



I Know we don't play that game but I think there needs to come a point in the game in which we just stop and think and bore out the win.

Do the fancy stuff to get you in front and then slow the game down.



We never will though, it's not us, and it means we'll eithet beat you comfortably or leave ourselves open, we did the latter today.

Wood had sid all to do with it, if he had received a red or had Pettybourne stayed on you would have had a case.

Woody was very lucky not to get himself sent off. Nice to see a good bit of biff though.

I'm convinced it'll emerge in a few weeks that Mike Monas has been playing concussed, like an old boxer he shows flashes of genius but then brainfarts too. I don't like watching him taking hits knowing he was out earlier in the year for similar injuries and considered retirement because of that. I hope I'm wrong and modern healthcare hasn't let him slip through the net...

Wigan came out of the sheds at half time intending to rattle us and we fell for it hook, line and sinker. Of course injuries didn't help but to simply blame those two things is taking a very simplistic view.



Quick point, following the conversation here after the Huddersfield game. Going for the two was a poor decision for mine tonight, it took all our momentum away and gave Wigan a much needed breather. We were never really in it again after that.

Had Monaghan played like he did last week we would have won tonight at a canter, he had a bad match and that's why we lost for mine.
