I liked the way he was hanging round the middle, backing the likes of Rauhihi up.



Wellens has never had great pace, but his positioning and the way he supported players was excellent, and none of our fb's have done that for years.



Just before Rah's try, he took an offload from Rah from this support play. A fe moments later he returned the favour for his try.

Anyone else notice the amount of talking he did? Seems to have been given alot of responsibility by Lowes and is lapping it up. I was very impressed.

Shows the value of having faith in young local prospects instead of shipping in overrated Aussies. I have always championed him as he seems to have been well coached and does the small things right.

He's competent on the wing, but he's not a threat. Fullback is his natural position and also his preferred position. Lowes said after the game that he has been banging on about having a chance at fullback since he joined the club, so I would suggest it's time to play him there. Reardon is finished and Bridge isn't a fullback.

Prior to last night he's played about 80 minutes of first team games at FB, away at leeds last year where he had a stinker and away at saints int he cup where he had a stinker at FB, since making his debut in 05 he's played mainly on the wing and he's improved every season, on the wing.

Yeah it's great when a still relatively young British player's career is threatened by a succession of injuries. Must give you such a warm glow inside knowing you were right all along.

Newcastle Knights had a full back a few years ago called Robbie O'Davies and Phil Gould et al used to say his best quality was that he would eat the easy yards up first. Riley reminded me of him a lot on Friday night in that he would get the ball and run hard and straight as soon as in possession and before the defensive line reached him and then try and beat the man when at the line. In the past a lot of our full backs tend to get possession and crab across the field towards the perceived defensive weak link before straightening up. The former method always seems to yield the better kick return to me. Well done Riley. Keep it up.

Riley was tremendous on Friday night. Never took a backward step. He can only improve further in the full back position, should Lowes decide to stick wit him there.
