I hated Paul Bishop with a passion when he was playing for Warrington but loved him when he was at Saints.



He had two top seasons for saints and should have won the Lance Todd at Wembley even though we was the losing team. He also should have gone on the GB tour that year.

Alex Murphy. What a great player he was but sadly because he'd caused me so much pain when playing for St Helens, I could never truly accept him in a Warrington shirt.

Kevin Ashcroft, also never seemed to me as someone who belonged.

Perhaps the fact he was australian got in the way.....unless you're suggesting he should've played for the kangaroos....in which case I'll question your sanity.

I think Bishop was an aussie mate? I could be totally wrong though.

Was Scott Wilson as bad as I remember or is my memory tainted by the state of the club in general during that time period?



For some reason I can't remember him catching a pass and not dropping it. Adam Doyle also stands out during that same period Van de Velde inspired Aussie dross... what a way we've come since those dark days. Don't feel so bad about not winning the treble last season when I think of the late 90s.

Two vastly overrated players for wire....simon gillies and danny farrar. Id also lump nikau in there.

Nikau was awesome at Cas but never really 'did it' for me at Wire.

Lot of high shots iirc....

People always say Gillies and Wilson, whilst individually they may not have broken any records, kohe love would not have scored anywhere as many tries that year without those two inside him

Adam Doyle though does sum up a lot of dv2's signings, jobs for the boys, which BTW as we were a basket case of a club at the time, Was The best we were gonna get.

He was a Aussie who qualified for for GB and also put his hand up for GB

Tony Tatupu-I recall being at Odsal in 1997 and him coming off the pitch absolutely laughing his head off with the Bradford NZ players despite us getting a good hiding!!!
