| Quote CW8="CW8"2 successive coaches never gave Rob Butler a chance which suggests to me either he wasn't up to scratch or he didn't make a good impression off the field.
Never heard of Rob Bulter

Tricky one. Lots of players fail at one club only to find their place at another.
Very few people at Leeds or Wakefield rated McShane but he’s done ok for Cas.
Who knows.

I had to have a Google and I'm afraid that my post was nothing more than simply pulling up a member of the Grammar Police and our very own 'Forum Yoda' Fan Club

In this instance, Powell must feel like he's giving away some Italian lira. Looks good but absolutely useless.

| Quote Douglas Black="Douglas Black"Do we support Powell or not? If he's the right coach for us, then we must assume he thinks that Hughes, J Clark, Davis offer more as "middles" than Butler. He sees them training day in, day out. He sees (and analyses better than any fan can) what the overall contributions of those players are.
EDIT - add Philbin to my list given the simultaneous post.'"
He was brought into get us playing like Cas…and he’s done it.

| If you're a prop and you can't currently get a game at Warrington then maybe rugby league is the wrong sport for you!

| Hopefully it's to make space for a new prop. We were reportedly offering up to 100k for Blake Ferguson maybe we need a touch more to get a prop in as replacement ?

| Can't hurt to let him go, 2 coaches didn't think he was good enough and he was out of shape when we signed him and never got back in shape.
Can't see him being on a big wage but free's up Salary cap along with Doro's which might be enough to sign a better prop short term?
James Harrison is about 4-5 weeks away so will be a plus in the forwards.
We don't know the master plan until it happens and until we get rid of all the dead wood and sign replacements we won't know what's happening next year either.
Powell knows what to do and will have a plan in place so i'm trusting his judgement and experience and will wait and see what that plan is

I genuinely hope he does do well at Wakey, his career somewhat stalled at wire, he was injured at the start I think and he never managed to fight his way in. I'm not sure why, but it's definitely better for him to be moving on from a career point of view.
If this frees up some cap space for us to move on a forward who will be part of the plans for the future then it can't be a bad move for us either. If we don't sign anyone though then it seems a bit pointless and if we get a few front row injuries we could be on even more trouble with the front row.

With releasing both Doro and now Butler, it looks like we are clearing the decks to sign a prop now.

The mole said he's hearing the Vaughn to Warringron rumours are False and he's right the majority of the time.
But we'll have at least 2 props lined up for next year, the fact we are in talks with Dufty tells me Ratchford is off at the end of the year as well, so we're gonna have a massive amount of cap to re-build with. Although i would rather have Thewlis take the no.1 spot rather than bringing an import in.

I too will be extremely disappointed, if we sign Dufty.
There is no point in having an Academy Team, if we are just going to recruit players from the NRL and ignore players that we have developed ourselves, such as Thewlis.
I was hoping that when Powell signed for us, that he would have the nous to realise that the Salary Cap constraints means that we can`t buy success, and that we should sign players from the NRL to supplement our home grown players.
We don`t need Dufty, but we do need at least 2 props and a bruising 2nd rower from the NRL
