| Quote rubber duckie="rubber duckie"There was foot twisting going on in the three man tackles too.
I spotted it, but not sure who without watching it again.
I didn't see his number.
It was a tactic that Lockers used on Bridge during the play off semi.
Bridge had to limp off and couldn't return, it was effectively game over at that point although we did give a dig.'"
I watched the game, and am ashamed to say when Widnes scored at the end was really pleased( yes I will hang my head in shame!!) BUT and I have to say that process was brought about by both Wigan and Child.
I wanted to watch the game last night, just glad the season has now started, but I watched not wanting either team to win, a conversation I had during the day with a Wigan fan.
I really have no good! feelings for either Wigan or Widnes and as completely impartial I sat and watched.
Wigan 3 men in on several occasions one around the chest second at the waist and then more often than not a third in on the thighs or as happened the knees. on several occasions this third man is the first to peel away and as he does he drags one leg sideways twisting either knee or ankle. Cant believe just how long it takes Wigan to get off the tackled player, and to top it all the first 2 penalties for lying on where against Widnes!! Would like to see the penalty count upto 60 mins as it was only the last 20 the Child decided to even it up. Have never heard Cummins disagree with a refs decisions as much as he did last night, but some times you just cant defend the undefendable!
Looks like the treatment tables will be full for any team the week after playing Wigan!

| Quote MarginMeter="MarginMeter"Has anyone accused someone of trying to paralyse another player? Unless it's in another thread it looks like you're exaggera...'"
I was indeed exaggerating it. However, you get the drift. People make so many unfounded claims of Wigan players doing this and doing that. If they were really trying to twist people knees/ankles and injure them then the players/coaches of the opposition team would be in the referees offices and PROVING it to them with video evidence. The referees aren't as clueless as people make them out to be. We as fans are just blinded by love/hate of the teams. I am as guilty as anyone else for it. But I don't honestly think opposition players and coaches would keep quiet if Wigan was meticulously attempting to injure them every game as certain people claim.

| Tomkins and Farrell are coached to act like they do,they are cowards.Maguire started these tactics ,now Apeman carries it on.Years ago Widnes had Sorenson.Grima the Oneill brothers ,before that Eric Hughes Les Gorley ,hard men.Wigan had Graeme West Dean Bell .We had Boyd Tamati Rathbone, before them Joe Price ,Nicko. All they wanted to do was dominate the opposition. Don't remember any of them trying chicken wing tackles or pulling legs round.
These Wigan players would not have lived with the above. But something needs to be done this season ,or a players career could be finished. This is the toughest sport ,but it should not be termed " brutal".What Wigan and Wane do is plumbing the depths, when under the cosh.

| I see the 3rd man tackle around the side of the knee area is still in the Pie tactics book.

The twists with hands on the boot of the tackled player are there.
The move is not profound and neither is it frequent.
The sly tactic is only used on players who make a difference.
It was no secret that Bridge had niggles, Lockers just gave it a tweak.
Ratchford in the Grand final however needed something a lot more obvious and harder hitting because he wasn't carrying a knock.

| The dark arts play book is plain to see in every tackle when Wigan are playing.

| This bit in which the ref takes his time to let three men peel off in the tackle is nonsense, give a set time from saying held and if theyre not off then tough, put less men in the tackle then.

Slows the game down a ridiculous amount. I can watch Wigan games on my phone while cutting my toe nails in the bath - half concentrating on the game - yet I miss nothing exciting as a huge percentage of the game is just a rugby union looking pile-on on the floor.

Followed by the third man falling over as he rolls off and ending up between the tackled player and the acting halfback.

You wanna give Wigan the chance to stamp on someone or gaz hock for example? They'd run out of studs to put in there boots and replace them with razor blades
