Seriously, think very carefully before having anything tatooed on your hand. When I was interviewing candidates for jobs, visible tatoos were always a good reason for turning them down.

Be careful if they are ethnic minority applicants with tribal tattoos/ritual scars on their body.

Tattoos are covered by the Equality Act 2010 anyway, regardless of race or nationality.

That's all well and good but if a prospective employer, who is put off by your tattoos, simply says "sorry, another candidate was more suitable for the role", it's a bit difficult to prove your tats were the reason and claim discrimination.

Exactly. Its common sense, like i said, if you're heavily into body mods and tattoos, and work in an industry that is accepting, then its all well and good. In the future, i think views will soften on tattoos, but until then, why risk your future earning potential?

I remember back in the day, our programme used to have sponsors advertising tattoo removal services. Said a lot about a) our commercial acitivity back then and b) our support if someone thought it worth the money!

Could you not have a temporary tattoo painted on using henna or paint?...see what it looks like..live with it for a few days....then make your mind up....I seem to remember Beckham doing this with a tattoo he had done on his arm.

When I used to follow England football everywhere there was a guy who goes, pretty tall, no hair, face/head completely covered in tattoos, has got the three lions and leeds football on his forehead and mainly football ones all around his head. certainly stands out
