Saints fan barging in here but I've noticed Riley whenever I've watched your guys play and not only do I think it would be a damn shame if he didn't have a first team spot next season but also I think it would be a damn shame if he wasn't picked for wing for England in the Four Nations. The lad has a rugby brain, has pace, is not afraid to tackle (in spite of his relative lack of bulk) and loves to aim for the line either on the outside or the inside, whichever is available. I hope Smith picks him for England because he really deserves international honours IMO.

Riley has improved tremendously this year, but still has a long way to go.



At the start of the year he was very ropey at both full back and on the wing - and blame can't all be laid at jimmy's door.



Can't see us going for another big name signing to replace him, unless they play for peanuts and that won't happen.

Would love to see Riley keep his first team place next year, but if rumours are true I doubt it. Myler at halfback would mean Bridge to stay in the centres, and with Atkins the other centre, would this mean King and Hicks on the wings?

He'll get a starting wing spot for me, easily.



As an aside, are you going to revise your view on King not being a centre, Mark?

Smith did bring in Carney, so he clearly thought we had a weakness on the wing.



I've been pleasantly surprised by Riley's improved performances this year, but can't shake the feeling that he doesn't really scare the opposition.

Riley is one of my favourate players but he is by no means the finished article. i.e, Running into Mathers, poor tackle on Cudjoe which meant Mathers had to commit. A couple of times he could have chose to catch a kick to diffuse it but tipped the ball out (probably good decisions though). I would like to see him playing next year but accept that there are better players (but please not Meli)

Ive been impressed with Riley this year, i was one of those who said he would never make it and he proved me wrong... still a few handling errors that need to be ironed out but a very solid winger when called upon.

John Kear felt he was unlucky not to win the Lance Todd.



He was excellent on Saturday.

I'd love to see him at Saints any day! Class act and only going to get better. Would be criminal of Wire to overlook him for a big name!
