No complaints about the team Wigan sent from me......most of it saw some 1st team action last season and are all full time SL players. Leigh aint full time and have a few new players so need time to gel.

Fitness was a key today and the Wigan backs were fast in attack......Leighs defence could of been better at times but its early days yet and all of the Wigan players today would walk into Championship teams IMO.

Thought we did ok today kes looked very sharp as did Kay just need to get match sharp and we will do ok this season . Where was penky today ?

IT was on the basis of last year's score, 30-6 to Leigh.

Saw some neat plays today and don't think any Championship clubs would have done any better. I know it's a bit of a cliché but the pies ARE in a different league to us.

Leigh will get better still and PR will still experiment with the team, Im sure he already knows the preferred backbone of the team but the fringes will still be up for grabs. Well done lads, a decent start.

Definitely a very young team from Wigan, and I have to confess that it disappointed me somewhat, initially. That said, Wigan's youngsters were far more 'up for it' than last season, and showed a lot of class, especially when moving the ball about.



For me, the game was highly entertaining, and well worth the entrance money.

Can anyone tell me the final score please. Stuck at work right now so didnt get to hear the radio coverage. Sorry if I've missed it on another thread but looked through most and didnt see it.

But where will 3/4 of that team play this season. Many were too old for the U19s. You can't play overage players I don't think in the U19s.

I think Rogues mentioned somewhere that 7 or 8 of them are still eligible to play under 19's. I guess powell or williams will get loans somewhere as they are to good to just sit around and the others will play at dual reg clubs.

Trouble with taking half backs on loan is that they are usually the lynch pin of any teams ayyack and that means a big ho;e when they are called back, both are IMO future Internationals but still need to play together as they can only get better, and why Wigan have brought over an overpaid Aussie when they have a full back like the two today baffles all judgement
