| Quote adelaide-giant.no9="adelaide-giant.no9"i just hope that fielden would be on a pay per game type of contract..he aint played many games recently due to injury and its a big gamble getting him for 2 years.'"
To be honest it is no ones business what sort of contract he is on and I think it is a bit disrespectful to both Fielden and Anderson to suggest such a thing is necessary, if there were doubts on our part we should not be signing him but as we have hopefully we believe in him fully and are taking him onboard as we would any other player.

| Quote GiantDee="GiantDee"True, but the other perspective is that with Eorl, Mason, Kopczak, Mulally and Larne that is six props, he can be used sparingly a la Brett Hodgeson at Wire. 15-20 games a season of 30 minutes spelling Eorl (to make sure no repeat of this season when pack fell apart every time Eorl came off), that could be very good.
With LOD, Ta'ai, Chan, Ferres, Bruno, Fergy in the back row I think I can envisage a big dominant pack. Fooey run on hooker and Robbo creating havoc off the bench, the potential is there to smash teams up front, quite a change from last season.'"
spot on!
morley is still playing in finals at 35... fielden is 33
fielden also played v saints not so many weeks ago in the final league game of season
widnes were in for him and a few others, seems hes coming to the giants for the right reasons...not for money
he brings bags of experience and leadership, which will bring the youngsters on, anderson said experience is needed now for this team
good signing!!! before his injuries with wigan he was having a storming season (the one when mason stood on his leg)

| on patrick im not sure which will be his best postition... good impact prop when FIT
seen him a few times at second row and think to myself this will be good but he just becomes invisible and doesnt do anything so may be best to stick with the impact prop and stay FIT
chan, odonnell and ferres is better in second row for me

| Tbh I think ferres was a waste of money- I'd rather have LOD, Bruno or Fairbanks in front of him at loose. (Or fooey if hes not hooking) We also have chan id rather have in second row- taai- yet an unknown, ferguson - on a par with ferres last season. Sea a bit surplus now- perhaps if we'd saved our cash we might have had a bit more to entice a halfback

ferres really impressed me at the back end of last season... big unit..a couple of lapses in defence but he hadnt been with us long and with a full pre season he should go very well next year
anderson is a big fan of him too so expect to see him start when he fit to play.
durham says he wants odonnell at loose, but on other pages faiumu at loose, make your mind up durham
ferres, chan, odonnell for me... taai on bench as impact player (dont know much about him yet though) ooooh the options!

LOD at loose and then use faiumu off the bench to run at tired forwards and get his offloads going.
LoD is not a playmaker he will be playing like a third prop which is what the Aussies have done for a while or like Bailey played for Leeds in the second half of last season.

| Very surprised by the negative Ferres comment. He is a tough, aggressive player who offers plenty in attack - as evidenced by the Leeds game.
Even ignoring his excellent second 40 against Leeds, why would anyone be so quick to write a player off who joined late-season and consequently has only played a handful of games for us?
Lawrence and Fairbank are hard workers and can play an important role, but their attacking options are limited and IMO do not compare to Ferres'. Faribank is a real grafter and will tackle anything but Ferres provides us with more options going forward.
Ball in hand, there is no comparison between Ferres and Lawrence/Fairbank.

| Ferres has played well for us so far. Should be even better with a full pre season under his belt.

I'm not writing off ferres at all- I just think we now seem to have do many players who can play that role just as well or better that we could have used the money to get a top class HB.
For me the loose forward needs to be defensively sound to help out the halves-we now seem to have plenty of aggressive go forward elsewhere - we don't want all our players with the same strengths (and weaknesses) a player with a bit of pace like Bruno will bring an extra dimension to our attack up the middle for me instead of just trying to bash up the middle.

| Ferres can play loose, but I suspect will mainly be used at left second row. LOD at loose and Chan at right second row. Ta'ai off bench with Fergy and Fairbank pushing for places. Bruno could be back to centre or even wing
