I think one thing is for certain and that is as it stands our squad will be weaker than it has been for the last few years. It was clear from last season we needed to strengthen but the opposite is happening.



I don't have much issue with losing the majority of players who have left or the reasons behind it - with the exception of Larne - but what I have an issue with is if you release / sell / lose a player and you have ambition you should replace them with stronger players or at least those of an equal standard. In the main, this simply doesn't appear to happening and I can only assume that this is due to an effort to reduce the wage bill.



If it is the case that this is what they are doing then the club should be honest with the fans. If anyone can currently work out the logic of the comings and goings at the club, they are a better person than me.

I've said it many times before, until we get better crowds and thus, more money, we won't be getting any 'big names' for a while. It is pretty clear that we are trying to reduce outgoings on wages etc ......it isn't ideal but as a club we simply cannot carry on bringing quality into the squad without the finances for it.

I completely agree - I don't want to end up like Bradford or numerous other clubs but why can't the club just be honest and say this.

My opinion ....because certain sections of our fanbase would hammer them for it, not because of what they are doing but because they don't understand why, to some of our fans we are a top club who should be bringing the worlds best players to the club and if they don't they criticise them for not doing so, threaten to withdraw their support, slag the club/players/staff off on social media etc etc.



Maybe the club just think its easier to deal with stuff without informing fans what's going on....personally i wish they would be more open but can understand why they would be reluctant to be.

I don't think certain sections would like it no- but it's happening anyway so why risk peeing off those that are going to be peed off anyway (those certain sections) AND those that WOULd accept it better if there was a degree of honesty!!!

the club has recently invested in a full time academy too, hardly cutting costs.



one player i was not happy to see leaving was kaufusi...but that was his choice not the clubs, not surprised the way he was treated by anderson really.



i think some of our fans would rather see us go the way of hull kr and have wholesale changes every season bringing in 8 players, least it would make the off season entertaining.. we wouldnt be finishing in the playoffs every season if we did but at least it would give some fans something to talk about.



we have a settled club with sponsors all renewing and little in and outs with players.. not chaos like some clubs.. top 4 for how many seasons now? still we havent won anything but we are still punching way above our weight, this last paragraph is probably a good reason for that too

Well posted Daz.The club on many occasions have their hands tied,take the players coming into the club and those leaving most did not want it made public so the club honoured their wishes.Daz is spot on we need more spectators to generate more finances to sign better class players.I have on several occasions contacted Richard Thewlis by email,telephone and face to face and I found him to be very open and honest to every question I put to him yet this guy is pulled to pieces by posters on this forum by people who should certainly know better,Richard is the MD of the Giants and as such relays the decisions of the 'BOARD' not his personal views.Reading this forum convinces me that most posters have a true love of RL and especially the Giants but there are times when it seems some guys let their keyboard run away from them.

Finally RL is a team game (not just the players)but from the lowest office person up to the Chairman(and us spectators) it cannot be an easy task for any of them and having some posters pulling them to bits at every opportunity must make them wonder if it is at all worth it.

So perhaps they need to change the way they do things. I'm sorry but I just feel that this thing is all a bit underhand.

Wane stated there would be no more signings for wigan this season, supporter association members told last week larne wasn't going. Now he's off "on loan" for a year- but if you read larnes comments and tweets it doesn't sound like he's planning to come back for the final year of his contract! When asked if he is he doesn't reply!

I understand that players come and go- it's part and parcel of the sport.

We keep being told "contact the club" well isn't that what the supporters association is for?????

HGSA is one way of getting information from the club. However, if no-one asks us, how do we know what people want to know?



HGSA will not contact the club every time someone has a moan on this forum, Facebook, etc.



Yes, we like to think that HGSA is the voice of the fans, but fewer than 200 have bothered to join. I've had the experience of supporters laughing in my face when distributing our literature at matches. The more people who join us, the louder our voice will be to the board. You don't like what we're doing or the way we express things, join the committee. You dislike what the chairman does, stand against him at the AGM.



This year we have raised £2000 for the youth development at the club. Just think how much more we could help the club if we had 2000 members.

So it's not just us then. Even the big clubs do it!!!

Stating you won't be signing anyone else and then revealing quality signing is a fair bit different to saying one of your core squad players won't be leaving and then letting him go.
