| Quote northernbloke="northernbloke"Wq love yr optomism, although think you missed a couple of words out re the olympics.
The japanese are pushing on with the olympics AT THE MOMENT!
Govt in UK are already talking abput restructions next winter.
My money would be on RLWC if it goes ahead, only being able to accomodate 50% capacity. Still think good chance it gets pushed back 12 months.
As for our season april start earliest, most likely May.'"
Agreed so much is in the air.

| If the RLWC was cancelled, would anyone be that bothered? It's not exactly a rip roaring must see competition where even a numpty can name the probable finalists.

| Been to a few RLWCs over the years and thorougly enjoyed experience of them all, irrelevent of being pretty sure of knowing who was going to be in the final.
Hope it does go ahead, got tickets for a few of the group games as well as semi and final, seen some cracking group games over the years so live in hope.
Its not just about who is going to win it.
So yeah reckon a few folk would be bothered.

I’m one of the bothered.
I’ve booked for the big games and am doing the opening weekend- England game in Toon, then Ireland v Jamaica in Leeds the following day.

Not quite sure how you work that out. Of 15 League World Cups, Australia has won 11 with Great Britain 3 & NZ 1. Swap England for GB then tell me who else can or will win it in 2021 or 2025?
Of the 9 Union World Cups, NZ has won 3, South Africa 3, Australia 2 & England 1. You could add France, Ireland & Wales who might have a chance of winning. Union looks a lot more competitive to me but each to his own.
League fans might miss it but i doubt it will leave even a ripple in the minds of the British sporting public if it doesn't go ahead, especially if the European Championships go ahead.
RLWC profit 2017 A$7m
RUWC profit 2019 $57m (Honkeytonk correct me if i'm wrong)

| Thetr seems to be an obsession hete with british sporting public and there opinion. Not too sure why, the people who will be bothered by the RLWC having issues are all the RL fans that are fans of the game. Will stadiums be full, no, and dont think they ever expect them to be. Does anyone expect the whole of the british sporting fan base to take interest in the WC no! Football fans follow foitball not rugby so majority dont care. Compaire it to the olympics how many uk sporting fans were genuinly bothered that it got postponed, provably very few.
But RL fans will care if RLWC gets affected

I'm an RL fan but not that bothered by the RLWC. The Olympics, on the other hand, I would miss a lot.

| Whereas i am a RL fan and yes i would miss the RLWC but dont really care about the Olympics.
The SL and Champ season start could have another problem, Catalan and Toulouse might be prevented from playing.

| Well first delay to the Super League season on the news, and suggesting that magic weekend could be in doubt.
Not looking to good at the minute for any UK RL anytime soon.

Realistically, last weekend in March is the earliest possible start date (27/28 March), Easter the following week. Magic weekend to be dumped.
It shouldn’t be forgotten that for a number of the lesser RWC teams players from the Champs will feature (Navarette?), so season can’t go on too long I would have thought

| Thats where the problems start with the WC. If the season gets cut short too much, or too many unplayed games then the viability of the comp is in doubt.
Hey ho.
Reckon end of march is still being optomistic

In my view the WC is an opportunity to push the game to a wider audience. That is the only way you will be able to generate greater TV revenue & be able to develop the game further. So in that respect, whether you would miss the comp or not is irrelevant.
As much as i love my RL, i'm with jbuzza & more interested in the Olympics. If they go ahead the amount of media coverage RLWC would get would be minimal apart from perhaps some northern editions which is not where we need it.
