Quote jaybs="jaybs"I can assure you that I don't worship at David Hughes feet, as these doom merchants do, I have always made my thoughts & opinions known but direct to the man himself, we would never have been able to continue so long without him, but I know his mistakes in my opinion so well. What if fans behaved like these Few still do here those at clubs with a lot longer history such as the Cumbria Clubs, we would be left with a 8 team RL sport.
Some of us will fight on and that is what it is now to retain our club, we fail and I see little future for the sport anywhere past Sheffield heading south.'"
Nick Cartwright, Chris Warren, Paul Brown, Ian Lenagan, David Hughes, Richard Lewis, Keith Hogg, Paul Blanchard and Angus Mackay have all had my "opinion" delivered face-2-face. A couple of them, actually agreed with me but unfortunately, Hughes has never taken to "advice" well and as a result, the club are ted beyond repair.
The fact that Hughes has bankrolled this disaster doesn't pardon him from taking 90% of the blame and I don't care if you 'think" we wouldn't have existed without him, because we will never know now. As a viable SL entity, we may have attracted interest from outside or inside the game, but whilst he held court and the 20 million + of debt was on the books, nobody would come near us....and now we are one step away from being Hammersmith Hills Hoists!
I will continue to follow the clubs "progress" and I will continue to proffer my opinion here and elsewhere. I will attend games when I am in the country, but have no axe to grind with fans who have had enough and I find it incredibly arrogant to you and Plum to lambaste fans of the club for having a negative opinion of it, it's current direction and its owner. These people have invested time and money in attending and supporting the club and have been treated terribly...they are consumers and next time you're having a heart to heart with your Buddy "Dave', tell him from me, his Customer Relationship Management skills stink! It's only my opinion mind, but it does come backed up with some pretty hefty data behind it!
I see the crowd was announced as a nice round 500 for the last harrah at the "venue where we can grow" (Hughes circa 2013).....that's a fair drop from the dizzy heights of 8k for his first game in sole ownership!
