| I cannot disagree with you more.
We should be looking to bring through our OWN talented players, who can play upto that standard. Whilst I cannot deny it is tempting to want some of them players - I'd sooner bring through superb young English players so to strenghten our national side.

Why look to the NRL for expensive 'stars' why not get young talented players over who are trying to prove themselves. Obviously it's great to have experienced players from the NRL but I would rather see some raw talent trying to prove themselves over an overpaid so called 'star'.

Exactly the same as what I would want - the only difference being thier nationalities.

We ARE already bringing through our own talent. This club is clearly always looking to strive for perfection, surely looking for future stars, wherever they are from should be a good thing.

| As I've said many times before, we should be sending our better youngsters out to Aus on a two year scholarship to lean from the best.
Academy Rugby is a joke over here, Wigan probably got four decent games all season.

I know we as a club are - don't think I am disputing that, far from it. I mean SL in general, I should of made myself clearer to begin with. However, I'd sooner have a talented young Wigan lad given his chance than an NRL junior.
I just think once one club starts giving youth a chance (like we have), they all might start doing it instead of turning to the NRL.
I agree they are talented players, but the only way they should come over here and take the place of an English prospect, is if an English player is sent over there. In a partnership with another NRL club.

Wondering what is happening with this partnership IL spoke about? Surely deals like this would come from that kind of agreement.

Seems to of all gone quiet on the partnership front. I hope it doesn't mean that it has been called off!

Its not often I disagree with you old boy, (ahem) what we should do is send over 1 coach from each club on a seasons secondment to a NRL club, to research differrent techniques and methods used in their training programmes, plus participate in daily comings and goings at their respective host clubs, just imagine Shaun Waine coming back after 12 months with say Wayne Bennett, We have to acknowledge the input of Shaun (mainly passion and pride in the shirts they wear) at Wigan, Alas the main difference is MM,
Sending Academy players out there for 2 years will enhance their skills and how they employ them. Coming back to McBanana, Noble, Kear, Agar and company will soon nullify all they learn.

That was worrying just how good those young lads are. The coaching/conditioning looks far superior to what we have over here. I would certainly look to trying to find an NRL link-up so we can do just what you've mentioned. At the very least I'm glad we're getting some dual-loan deals for some of our lads. It's not ideal, but it's a damn site better than leaving them in the academy.

I agree.
It has been muted on these boards that the way to improve International RL (ie England) is to let all our top players play in the NRL. I completely disagree with that opinion because the standard of SL will deteriorate massively.
The duel loans / short term deals have been a very good way of doing things and Wigan have reaped the benefits.
IF we could get our young lads to head to Aus for a year and to suck up the advanced training techniques. Also by gaining the independence that leaving home brings will help accelerate their development massively.
If we can get the top British youngsters into the same state of mind that is bred into their Aussie counterparts, I feel that they will carry that through their professional career.
This can only be beneficial to SL as standards will be raised from the ground up.
