Will no doubt get slated on this by those who cant look beyond the end of their nose cos he's not much of a well liked yorkshire man, but what would peoples thoughts be if we were one of the clubs in the running?;
www.superleaguefans.com/leeds-rh ... -2012.html
OK hes well past his best but has still done a job for leeds for the past 2 yrs and is still probably in the top 5-6 centres in the league.
His age goes against him of course, but it almost fits perfectly for both parties who have suddenly found themselves short. We're desperately short in the centres with the loss of Joel and he is suddenly clubless. Cant see him being likely to command a lot wage wise and we could probably get him knock off for offering him the opportunity of playing for the country's biggest club - what better way to go out?
Am I the only one who could see the massive benefits for both parties of a short 1 yr deal. Plugs a massive gap for us until we have someone in the acadamy to step up and could improve some of the younger lads immensley just by getting the opportunity to work with one of the best centres of the SL era.
He'd do a similar job as connelly in his 2nd stint IMO - never set the world alight, and never be as he was at his best, but he would certainly sturdy the back line and could develop charnley beyond recognition defensively in one year, thus adding value here also.
For me our back line would suddenly look far stronger if we had
Tomkins
Charnley
Senior
Carmont
Richards
rather than
Tomkins
Charnley
Gelling / Goulding / Amos
Carmont
Richards
...OK we may have the oldest centre partnership in the league but there'd not be many better!
Know which of the two above options I'd rather have as I can see the latter leading to a right wing turnstyle far worse than anything we saw last year.

| i would have him...he can still do a job.
if we were considering Gareth Thomas, it follows that Senior is a better signing.
signed on a similar basis as the proposed GT signing, i would jump at it, depending on cost.
and if im not mistaken, hes not a 3, hes a 4....ie..cover for Carmont

| We need to be in the running IMO.
We are in trouble at centre this year. Carmont has been a great signing for us but I feel he's going to struggle this year and we haven't exactly got any centres ripping it up in the 18's/20's.
There were plenty of games last year when Hoffman had to go to centre when Carmont went off. We don't have a back rower who has played plenty of games in the past at centre like Hoffman had.

| No, this does not make sense to me, not unless Gelling isn't a genuine first-teamer, which I would be very surprised at. My guess would be that Gelling will do a good job for us and with Gelling taking some of the pressure off Carmont I would expect George to have a decent season too. If we can get Paaaaaaaaaaaat back to 90% of his best from the 2010 season then our backs will be in good shape.

| Currently we have one experienced out and out centre. I would have him without doubt. How many times last season did we have players switching to centre just to fill in? And arguably we are worse off now.
Carmont wont be able to play every single game next season imo and Gelling from reports sounds like it might not be his number one position.
I dont see what we could lose by signing him.

| Depends on his off field antics to be honest, could be very disruptive.

| So long as it wasn't on a massive contract I wouldn't have too many issues with it. At the end of the day we need cover in the centre's. He doesn't have to be in the first team every week, He is a decent experienced centre, albeit at the wrong end of his career but centre's are hard to come by, Geiling is a a total punt and whilst he could turn out to be decent he could also be dreadfull and where do we go then?
