| Quote Aboveusonlypie="Aboveusonlypie"I find it hard to understand the vitriol of fans against him. There is no evidence that he will walk away. He has fought all his life for what he has and like many self made men is bit too impatient. However, one of the constant criticisms on these boards is the lack of investment in Rugby League. Here is a bloke who is new to the game who has generated a lot of interest in a short time in a club that would be a basket case in the way that London and Bradford have become.
Ok he's made some questionable decisions and for an intelligent man he certainly says some stupid things, but let's face it his mutterings on twitter create a lot of followers from RL. And he's backed his coaches with money and they have bought whatever talent was available.
Of course you can't buy success, but youth programmes take years to develop and by then it may be too late.
Give the guy a break. I hope he doesn't walk away - if he does I wouldn't blame him. The crowd of 3,500 was pitiful and suggests that he may have chosen the wrong club, but I think he's a fighter and won't give in.'"
I was surprised by that crowd, I thought they were attracting 3-4k home fans plus there must've been 1500 Wigan fans there last night. Would've expected 5k minimum, even for a Thursday Sky game. Easiest I've ever got off that car park though!

Ever noticed that at Salford there always seem to be more cars than fans?!!!

But I also agree about the support he's getting in Salford, which is astonishingly poor. If an ambitious new owner with loads of cash won't bring the fans in, you've got to wonder who will. I'm starting to wonder if RL is finished as serious entertainment in Manchester.'"
The stadium isn't in Manchester, that's a main part of the problem. If it was easy to walk up or travel to the stadium, I'm convinced that there is a market to tap. As it is it's as easy to travel to Warrington or Wigan from Central Manchester than to the AJ Bell or what ever it's called.

It desperately needs the proposed Metrolink expansion, but that's probably 15 years or more away (if it actually happens).

Never gonna happen - even the proposed extension for 2019 only goes as far as the Trafford Centre & the extension to the extension (to "Port Salford"icon_wink.gif is still looking for a "maybe possible" - unless Peel stump up considerable dosh, this current ConDem mob won't look at it twice.
Salford stated that they need some 5k for each game to break even, so if they're only raising 2/3 - 3/4 of that then there's big problems not that far round the corner.

| Quote Cruncher="Cruncher"Totally agree. I suspect some of the dislike stems from envy in that Koukash is more able to splash the cash than a good many other SL chairman, and significantly less prudent than our own owner when it comes to spending on players (whether that's the way to go or not, is a different argument).
But I too am bewildered that so many fans seem to hate him. Do we really just want to swim about endlessly in this non-ambitious 'working class' rut that so many of us seem to think is the only thing RL can ever be?
We should be far more welcoming to colourful characters with money who want to buy into the British game.
But I also agree about the support he's getting in Salford, which is astonishingly poor. If an ambitious new owner with loads of cash won't bring the fans in, you've got to wonder who will. I'm starting to wonder if RL is finished as serious entertainment in Manchester.'"

How many half backs do they want? Sneyd, Chase, Fages, Smith and Dobson.

Junior S`au
Meli (been here long time)
Chase (has played for GB)
Smith (ex Wiganer)
Pulatea (Freeman of St Helens)
Tasi
Rapira
So 7 born outside the UK but probably only 3 on quota --- (Mullaney (Oz) , McPherson (Oz) & Fages (Fr) also born outside UK not playing.

Quota is irrelevant and has been for some time. It's fed or non-fed trained now, all of those would be non-fed although the ones that have been here longer may be excempt from when it was first introduced. They're allowed 7 anyway.

| I Luje the bloke and think he is good for the game, he brings attention to the sport he is ambitious and thinks out if the box.
He clearly knows bugger all about the game but he will learn. I wonder how long it will before he throws some real money at a top coach like he should have done from the start.
He is clearly passionate about Salford, I don't see him walking away, I like the fact he has shaken up the establishment. Good luck to him.
