Do you have any proof (other than the tainted MOS award) that Rangi Chase is even fit to lace Sam's boots when it comes to being SuperLeague's best player?
To say that he won the vote WITHOUT tactical voting for "anyone but that finger-flicking Tomkins", therefore saying that he is, in fact, a better player, is quite simply beyond being "a wild accusation".

| Tomkins was better then Chase in 2011
Tomkins is a far better player then Chase overall
Both cold facts IMO yet Sam didn't win the MOS award and why? Pure jealousy as far as I can see and it comes down to a popularity contest amoungst the best 4 or 5 players IMO.
Let the coaches pick it.

| I think its far more likely that tomkins and roby split the vote as both had cracking seasons. Honestly the bitterness on this board is unbelievable, you all act like theres a huge conspiracy against wigan by the people that run the game, its ridiculous

| For me the best player last year was Roby! He carried Saints to the Grand Final. Rangi Chase missed a simple dg to get Cas to a CCF and went missing after that as Cas finished outside the playoffs . It was a joke how he won it.
Dont know how feasible it is but they should publish who voted for who in my opinion! Therefor you could judge if Tomkins was boycotted by certain teams and who actually voted for Chase!

I think you wildly underestimate the influence of James Graham on that Saints team - the proof of which has been seen in Saints early season form despite Roby being his usual ball hogging / stat filling self until his injury.

| The MoS is a joke. Not giving Sam the award last year was a typical example of the small-minded RL community shooting itself in the foot. We have the most naturally gifted player for decades, a young man who we should be promoting as one of the UK's top sports stars. And the muppets vote for Chase instead. You couldn't make it up.

They've missed his motivational impact too - hissy fits they may have been sometimes but at least he cared, which by the looks of things on the Saints board is more than you can say about most of the rest of team. They are badly missing "Jammer" who seems to have had almost a Farrell-esque role in enabling an average side to overachieve.

The people who run the game aren't competent enough to organise a huge conspiracy against Wigan.

TBF, no accusation can be too wild in the world of British RL.
There has to be some explanation as to why the players voted for Chase. The rumour that certain clubs imposed block-votes on their teams to keep Sam away from the trophy, is far more believable to me than the notion that they all know so little about the game as to give it to Chase.

| This thread really has tickled me. I remember everyone up in arms when Barrett was robbed with people suggesting that the players should vote for the MOS as the "experts" didnt know thier from thier elbow. Now that has happened and Sam didn't win it last year, people are complaining about that.

I've never said at any point that Chase is the better player, but simply whinging that Sam didn't win it due to what you're all claiming as 'Biased voting' is typical Wigan paranoia. I know Sam is the better all round player than Chase, but maybe, just maybe, the players have a different opinion?
Maybe the players thought that one man dragging a team around the park and making them competitive was worth the award?
Until I see some proof instead of rumours and hearsay, i'll say that the players player award is the best way to go about this.
Now if the shortlist this year is Richie Mathers, Karl Pryce & Sam, and Sam still doesn't win, I may be inclined to believe in the conspiracy.

It's not my argument mate, just some other people's opinions.
I can understand why though. Ryan O'Hara on twitter has posted comments regarding Sam Tomkins and Tom Burgess and a few other Bradford players joined a group entitled "Gareth Raynor should be man of the match for knocking out Sam Tomkins". I can't imagine the Leeds players being particularly happy with Sam either.
He gets under the oppositions skin. No denying it.
