Quote DaveO="DaveO"Well the players union would agree with you (and so do I) but I don't think you can assume being banned was the only thing that led to this tragic event.

True, there do seem to be other mitigating circumstances. My only point is a player who openly admits to be depressed in the first place thus taking drugs should be looked after and rehabilitated to avoid a player spiralling further into depression due to other factors and taking their own life.
Of course it will not be a full proof system and some players might continue to do drugs and others may, god forbid, follow a similar route as Terry but hopefully more can and will be done to make sure nobody has to fall into a greater state of depression.
Quote DaveO="SaintJames"IMO this is the wrong decision and it is still not too late to turn it into a minute applause.
What has happened puts Rugby League (and sport in general) into perspective. However on a Rugby level he was detested by Saints fans and the reasons for this are well documented.
A minutes silence after some 'fans' will have been drinking for 5/6 hrs is asking for trouble and will taint RL's family image. Its a sorry state of affairs but its also reality.'"
If this was a former St. Helens star with a disliked reputation in the Wigan borough who died in similar circumstances I would be silent even tanked up because I would never wish this on anyone.
If we have to pussyfoot around Neanderthals then there is no point doing anything. If a minutes silence can be observed impeccably by United and City I'm sure the same can between Wigan and Saints.
