Gleeson won't play for Wigan again.

Unless there's an absolute breakdown in relationships or stepping over the line, most industrial disciplinary routes are designed to send a warning, and aim to improve performance, maybe with training or a re-aligning of knowledge and attitude.

They don't always have to end in contract termination.

He wouldn't be a major loss to Wigan as: 1. Good young players coming through in the backs (Marsh/Charnley) and 2. Performance wise Gleese has been up and down due to injuries and his off field antics have finally taken it's toll. He will probably end up with his brother in the national leagues thats if Salford doesn't sort him out.

Right now though we could do with him, as the youngsters are not quite ready for regular starting berths. We are paying him not to play, which is madness.



As far as I know, he hasnt been charged or convicted of any crime. We paid and played Feka whilst he was awaiting his court case, as did Saints with Pryce. The only reason I can think of is that the request not to be selected has come from the player and not the club. If that was the case, the club could have made a statement saying he was being given XX amount of time away for compassionate reasons.

Nor has Hock, I think the nature / circumstances matter.

Is surely very similar to how he left Saints? At the time, he was in his prime, did something stupid, and we lost him. Ok we got a bag full of cash for him, signed Lyon, and so things worked out ok, but he should still be a Saint now. I guess some players have a self destruct button, we should learn from that, or at least not be surprised when they do implode again.

Why can't we speculate as to why Gleeson has been suspended? unless he is a rapist or something like that it is good to have a guessing game about this.
