| I went today. I am a Wiganer and my town has just won the FA Cup for the first time ever. I think thats incredible and its worth celebrating.
Those of you (on both sides) with chips on their shoulders should just keep their gobs shut with all this tit-for-tat negitivity.

He screwed Wigan RL over...FACT. There is no room for forgiveness. The man is a joke. Can you imagine the Latics playing an entire season and having an advantage ripped away so casually. . I for one never forget and never forgive. I hope they go down. Those that love everything about the town i can understand but I just love the Rugby League and what Whelan did was unforgiveable.

Lets wait to see the council spending ratepayers money on posters IF we get to Wembley, nice for them to show their true colours at last, bit different from the stony silence that emits when WRLFC goes to Wembley.

I don't know why they are changing their branding from cherry and white to blue and white. Surely if the old buses were cherry and white, they must be the towns colours. Even the two most importand sporting teams in the council area (Wigan and Leigh) play in cherry and white.

| As a Salford RL and Wigan FC fan this was the first piece of major silverware I've experienced in my life time, amazing scenes. Never been so nervous in my life during that last 5 minutes.

| Embarrassing comments on this thread (not Uncle Dave's). There are times when, if you can't find anything good to say, you say nowt.

Well considering it was their FIRST ever major final, im not sure why that's an even an issue. It should be celebrated on a large scale, and don't see what is wrong with that. If they went as often as we have I doubt they would make such a big deal about it, but it was their first. Whether you like it or not the FA Cup is far bigger and far more global then the Challenge Cup. Fact is watching the news in Sydney this morning, the town of Wigan is getting quite alot of attention whereas if the Warriors won the CC, it wouldn't even get a mention.
Quote zntyres="21-12"Anyone spot the "one team in wigan" banner at the end?'"
Over 20'000 Latics fans, and some on here get all upset other one or two posters/signs. This thread is proof that both clubs have too many bitter fans who are more concerned with the other club failing. I know plenty of Latics fans and most will be happy for the club and town if the Warriors win a trophy. Both clubs have these fans who get so upset over the mere existence of the other.
Im glad they won and glad that my home town is getting mentioned so much down under.

| I read somewhere that the Man City starting 11 cost over £200 million, and Latics' cost £11 million. That is remarkable.

Exactly. There are some right paranoid fools knocking about on here.
Fair play to the Latics, they did Wigan proud yesterday!

| Quote lothlorian="lothlorian"personally I'll never forgive Whelan what he did in the playoffs. A whole seasons work made to play on a neutral ground. You dont see Hull and Huddersfield having that issue. He screwed us over and I want nothing but failure for him. As much as I love an underdog story and its good for the town, i dont want to that man have any success. Fingers crossed in 2 weeks his joy turns to tears.'"
We played ONE game on a neutral ground and we won.
Huddersfield played four a couple of years back.

| Firstly congrats to Latics. I'm no great football fan, in fact it is the first time i have ever shown any emotion watching a club football game.
As for DW 'hating' us. Complete and utter nonsense. Without doubt his first love is the football club, as mine is the rugby club, but like me and the MAJORITY of wiganers he wants both clubs to do well.

| Quote 21-12="21-12"Wonder if cockney latic would have a similar thread to this if it was the other way around
Anyone spot the "one team in wigan" banner at the end?
They hate us, with a passion and would gladly see us tossed out of that stadium and on the scrap heap, trust me, I know enough of them. Go on that famous video site and watch the videos of them burning wigan rugby posters in the toilets when they played liverpool at home'"
Yeah I saw the banner too; we should try to ignore people like those. It’s sad to see personal jealousy drowning out the community pride for their home town. Well done Latics!
