Manfredi, blindsided by Chase and a swinging arm in the tackle. Didn't look good at all.

Just seen a clip of the chase tackle and there doesn't appear to be any thing wrong with it. It happens very fast and the view is from behind Chase. I've watched it several times and I think Dom is starting to lose his footing just has chase hits him. There is definitely no contact with the head and Dom doesn't look dazed but obviously knows his knee is bad. Its only when Tompkins comes running in and grabs Rangi that it all kicks off. There's a video doing the rounds on facebook, doesn't look a bad tackle, looks like a clash of knees on the floor that's caused the injury

Can't really make out anything from the Facebook clip given the poor quality but the the fact that it wasn't penalised and lack of reaction from the Wigan players suggests there was nothing wrong with it. No one reacted to the challenge. Tomkins only reacted to Rangi shoving Williams which was followed by a short communal gathering. I'm pretty sure Manfredi was dazed though, as he's reported to have suffered a concussion.

There is now a much better one on a face book site called Castleford RLFC in pictures, with commentary by the legendary Morgy. After the tackle Chase appears to say some thing to Dom. Whether its good or bad I don't know but Williams takes exception and gives Rangi a little push and Rangi pushes back. Should have said in my original post that I hope Dom comes through it ok as he seems one of the genuine nice guys of RL

Bad luck for the lad. Would've been in the England squad too I reckon. I'd put Gildart on the wing personally.

It's such a shame for Manfredi. Hopefully he'll be able to get it all sorted in time for the start of next season.

I wouldn't mind seeing a replay but I'm doubtful there will be anything forthcoming from the RFL. I think all injury causing tackles should be reviewed.

Higginson looked pretty good the other week against Wire in the U19s.

Maybe a chance for to gain a little bit more experience?

Wouldn't argue if the nod went to Gildart though.



I'm a fan of Manfredi and just hope that there are no longer term issues with the injury. Speedy recovery for the lad.
